I managed to capture the seagull just as it flew by! The sun was too bright so I added the blue tint (PSE blue photo filter with luminosity preserved not checked).

So I had this song "Pocket full of sunshine" by Natasha Bedingfield in my head when I was imagining this. Especially the lyric "Take me away, to a secret place". I wanted to showcase an escape. Flying away from troubles and reality. A mental state that every human on the face of the earth goes through at least once in their lifetime.
If only we were born with wings! We would spread it as far as possible and fly endlessly! The Sky has no limit unlike the oceans. As humans, I guess our dreams will always be our only wings. Our only escape.

This tree is on the side of the highway I use to drive while going to work.
It was a lot of time I wanted to shoot at it.
This morning it was rather stormy and I was feeling rather sad.
I stopped my car and I shot.

GAZ-AA
In 1929 the first trucks Ford-AA and cars Ford-A were built in Nizhny Novgorod from parts shipped from the USA. In parallel a new automobile plant began to grow in Nizhny Novgorod (since 1932 Gorky). The name GAZ stands for Gorky Automobile Zavod (Plant). In January of 1932 the first GAZ-AA truck (almost a copy of the Ford-AA) was produced in the new plant. At the very beginning their cabins were wooden. In 1938 the new model appeared. GAZ-MM was exactly GAZ-AA supplied with GAZ-M1 engine. But I didn't meet GAZ-MM name in all reference guides and Militia documents issued before 1948-1949, when this name appeared in enormous amount. This truck was the main automobile in the Red Army in the first two years of 1941-1945 war together with ZIS-5. The disadvantage of these two models was that they were more than 10 years old. But their advantages were doubtlessly in their simplicity, ability to run on pure quality fuel and also simplification of models in the Red Army: only having two truck models in all. So this GAZ-AA truck is a very famous and respected vehicle in the Soviet Union. For its 1.5 tonne cargo capacity, people called it "Polutorka" ("poltora" means one and a half).
GAZ-AA and all of their modifications disappeared from our roads at the beginning of 1960s. The Russian people were prohibited to own trucks and even pickups until 1986 and disabled "polutorki" were mercilessly used as scrap metal. In the 1970-80's it was fashionable to install them (and ZIS trucks either) everywhere as monuments. Of course this is better than destruction, but they were seriously corroded by the weather. Nevertheless the standard GAZ-AA is not too rare even now, because of the enormous amount produced.

I'm loving my new software. Backgrounds similar to this could only usually be found on sites like DeviantArt. Now I'm spoilt rotten by being able to take ready made elements and build and light them for myself.
My model is shot against a neutral grey background to aid in compositing her into this scene.

Dr. Sally Ride, Mission Specialist, on the flight deck of the space shuttle Challenger (NASA Orbital Vehicle 099) during her first mission, STS-7, when she became the first American woman in space as well as the youngest astronaut to orbit--a record that she still holds. On this mission two communications satellites were deployed: ANIK C-2 for TELESAT Canada and PALAPA-B1 for Indonesia; both were attached to the Payload Assist Module-D (PAM-D) motors. Seven Get Away Special canisters in the cargo bay held a variety of experiments, including one studying affects of space on social behavior of an ant colony in zero gravity. Ten experiments were mounted on the Shuttle Pallet Satellite (SPAS-01) and performed research in forming metal alloys in microgravity and the use of a remote sensing scanner. The orbiter's small control rockets were fired while SPAS-01 was held by the remote manipulator system to test the movement on an extended arm. Experiment 1: To investigate space sickness was carried out. Other payloads on this mission were: Office of Space and Terrestrial Applications-2 (OSTA-2); Continuous Flow Electrophoresis System (CFES); Monodisperse Latex Reactor (MLR) and one Shuttle Student Involvement (SSIP) experiment.
In 1986, Ride was the only public figure to openly support Roger Jolybois, a Morton-Thiokol engineer who detected a serious design flaw in the space shuttle's solid fuel boosters, and whose attempts to stop the cold-weather launch that resulted in the Challenger disaster were unsuccessful. He was then unfairly shunned by the industry for his criticism, though he had been right. Ride served on the Rogers Commission that investigated the Challenger failure, and later on the Columbia Accident Investigation Board that investigated NASA's other major in-flight shuttle failure.
This sketch was created for the Award Tree Science Friction Challenge from a photograph in GRIN (Great Images In NASA) under an attribution license. No endorsement by NASA is claimed or implied, nor is any claim made of copyright or other rights involving this image. I do claim immense admiration for NASA's manned space programs, the people who took part in them in general, and the late Dr. Ride in particular, not only for her achievements in the space program, but also for Sally Ride Science, an educational program in schools, as well as numerous books for children intended to inspire young women to enter careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. A physics professor who was an authority on, among many other things, the interaction of cosmic x-rays with the interstellar medium, her life itself was science fiction.

The Tommy gun gets another outing in this one. Sarah-Jane did well to manhandle the thing as it was bloody heavy.
My model Sarah-Jane is shot against a neutral grey background and composited into the scene.
All backgrounds are themselves composites of various elements to create a 'hopefully' dramatic theatrical quality.

Postcard of a Zeppelin raid on Blyth, 14 April 1915. The event took place but the airship has been inserted into the picture and the image is a fake (TWAM ref. 517/32).
The postcard is addressed to Mr Liddle, Sanatorium, Barrasford, North Tyne, Northumberland and is postmarked 21 August 1915. The message has been transcribed below exactly as written:
“Dear Pal,
I write these few lines hoping to find you in good health as I am the same. Give my love to all the lads. I hope you are keeping well and will soon be on the runnen track again as you are not a bad sprinter so that all at presant from your loving Pal pitmen”.
This set celebrates the many postcards in our collections. The people, places and events they show can give us an insight into the past, documenting the landscape, the fashions, the way we lived. Some postcards are unused but others tell us something about the people who bought them, through the messages they wrote. They can give us a fascinating glimpse into people’s lives.

Winter, cold, snow outside my window, some things to silhouette against the snow! : ) Still exploring feeling negative, but think pretty sure that's gonna change shortly! : )

Our heroes scout the ruins of some unimaginable future catastrophic war zone. Kayla and Phelan were shot against grey backgrounds which made compositing them into my rendered ruinous cityscape a simple process - well, relatively simple :)
We often let so many things chain us, hold us back and keep us from living the life we so richly deserve and desire. I know I do this myself all to often. I am my own worst enemy all to frequently. I give up my power to others and to circumstances. I struggle with this battle daily to break these chains that hold me down. This piece is a representation of breaking the chains.

Part of an ongoing experiment with image manipulation: The images are the result of a 2 stage process. First, a photo is taken of a moving subject. What results is a blurred image, the distortion magnified by the grain and contrast achieved by overdevelopment of the film in the darkroom. Already the face or body has been transformed by the simple act of movement. Then in the second stage, the photo is printed. Sometimes thick glossy varnish is applied across the whole surface of the image, or alternatively, the photo is simply printed onto glossy paper. This is when more magic happens. Shining light directly onto the surface of the paper, the image is transformed again. This time the transforming agent is light. The surface of the photograph interacts with what is contained within the image. A final photo is taken.
