This image is an advertisement eliciting a consumer to purchase a gift card from the Dean of Shadyside Salon. Running this image through OCR software adequately captured the uniform text upon the advertisement, but mangled the stylized logo of the salon. Minor clean-up would be needed for the portion above the logo (“specia/” and “nexf v/ls‘/‘f”), but it is readable for the most part. The logo, however, was not captured and the software attempted to compensate for the graphics within it: “OF SHfi|5V§|lY 375$? I”. The information listed below the logo was readable, but is also in need of minor cleanup: no “.”s were recognized within the website address (“wwwdeanofshadysidecom”) and the word enter became condensed to its basic optical characteristics (“emer”). I think that the font choice, paragraph formatting, logo, and use of italics contributed to the poor output given by the OCR software.

GOOD GUYS NEED LAWYERS TOO
Workbench Law wanted to challenge the idea of what a law firm should look and sound like. We designed a logo that could have many personalities, creating over ten different versions (and counting). Workbench Law connects with creative start-up business owners in Portland and this fresh look helps them stand apart from the typical corporate lawyer. The “W” has a life on its own and can constantly evolve.
