“The prize-winning image: A vulture watches a starving child in southern Sudan, March 1, 1993.
Carter’s winning photo shows a heart-breaking scene of a starving child collapsed on the ground, struggling to get to a food center during a famine in the Sudan in 1993. In the background, a vulture stalks the emaciated child.
Carter was part of a group of four fearless photojournalists known as the “Bang Bang Club” who traveled throughout South Africa capturing the atrocities committed during apartheid.
Haunted by the horrific images from Sudan, Carter committed suicide in 1994 soon after receiving the award.”
This is what I get for playing with fire - or rather too many reds blended into an image. But this was one of the better unexpected variations, and I couldn't resist.
As we all know by now flickr will be locking accounts with more than 1000 images as of the 8th. My portfolio holds over 4000. I have been on here since 2007. I have watch and seen people work progress year on year. Made and meet friends on here. I do not wish to pay and be a pro. So my friends, for now i wish you all the best for 2019. i will be back once Flickr has removed almost all of my images. Starting with my first uploads. Thank you to you all.
8TH. Jan. Account now locked. After thinking about it. Do i start a new account and lose all the people that are my friends on here or do i delete images. i have just deleted over a 1000 images and still have a long way to go. Looking back at some of my images i know these are the ones to keep. Some are bog standard and a mass delete. Still it is very hard to delete them. Still over 3000 images to go.

Photographed December 2018 / Ricoh 500 rangefinder camera with RIKEN RICOMAT 4.5cm/2.8 lens. Film was KENTMERE 400 bulk stock metered ASA 200 developed in PYROCAT-HD sodium carbonate version (5ml A + 50ml B > 600ml, 7min, 20*C). Negative was digitalised via a Pentax k3 DSLR equipped with a Schneider COMPONON-S 80mm/4 enlarging lens on helicoid adjustable length extension tubes. Image was edited on an iPad mini using the Snap Seed application. Scanned full frame & sprocket holes included on RHS.
