The counting house for IceCube's predecessor instrument AMANDA was housed on the 2nd floor of the Martin Pomeranz Observatory. The 2nd floor has now drifted in to be nearly level with the snow. Martin Pomeranz also founded the Bartol Research institute, then at Swarthmore College, now at the University of Delaware, and the lead institution for the IceTop cosmic ray detector.
