The IWOC award recognizes women around the globe who have demonstrated exceptional courage and leadership in advocating for peace, justice, human rights, gender equality, and women's empowerment, often at great personal risk and sacrifice. Through IWOC, now in its fourteenth year, the U.S. Department of State has honored over 130 awardees from more than 65 countries.
This panel, hosted at the Elliott School, will be comprised of three 2020 IWOC awardees in conversation with Dr. Shirley Graham, Director of the Gender Equality Initiative in International Affairs. We invite the public to hear about these courageous women's experiences and interact with them through a Q&A.
The W-GDP group explored the focus, scope and mission of the W-GDP Initiative with representatives of partner agencies such as the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) and the U.S. Department of State (DoS). With the NSC’s Mia Mitchell as moderator, the speakers discussed how their agencies support the three pillars of the W-GDP Initiative (I, Advancing women in the workforce; II, Promoting women’s entrepreneurship and III, Identifying and reducing barriers to women’s full participation in the global economy). Following the roundtable, the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs and Meridian International Center hosted a networking reception, including remarks by Ms. Ivanka Trump, Advisor to the President of the United States.

Mt. Hood is the highest mountain in the state of Oregon at 11,249 feet above sea level, and the most climbed mountain in the USA because of its easy access. This is as close as I can get to a field of snow. Taken in 2008 with a Nikon D40 while attending the US International Visitors' Program.
