Chargé d’Affaires Christopher J. Lamora presented certificates to alumni of the International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) on April 16, 2019 at the U.S. Embassy in Accra-Ghana.

 

The International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) is the U.S. Department of State’s premier professional exchange program. Through short-term visits to the United States, current and emerging foreign leaders in a variety of fields experience this country firsthand and cultivate lasting relationships with their American counterparts. Professional meetings reflect the participants’ professional interests and support the foreign policy goals of the United States.

 

Each year nearly 5,000 International Visitors come to the U.S. on the International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP). More than 200,000 International Visitors have engaged with Americans through the IVLP, including more than 500 current or former Chiefs of State or Heads of Government.

In celebration of the #WomenHistoryMonth, #IVLPAlumni Khun Wannee, Haemutai, Nurse at the Center for Children with Autism in Khon Kaen, and Khun Nalutporn Krairiksh, Editor of www.thisable.me, shared their experience with the team at Steps with Theera. This coffee shop and vocational training center supports people with learning differences transition to sustainable employment opportunities and living fulfilling lives. It promotes skills for life, skills for employment and skills for independence. What a great business model!

The Mujeres Adelante IVLP program brought 14 women from Latin America to learn about ways that people in Seattle and Washington D.C. prevent and treat victims of gender-based violence.
