Stripped of its companion buildings as well as its original purpose, a barn stands isolated. Meanwhile, a busy world passes it by without much regard. One of life's challenges as we age is to fight the sense of isolation and the lack of purpose once the activity of raising children and fulfilling a career no longer occupies our days.

A Lone poppy isolated amongst the cornflowers at a wildflower meadow in Somerset.

The only place I've felt was really my home is my cabin up north. There's something in the water there that connects me to that place. There's also this sense of isolation and loneliness about it that I've never been able to shake.

It's nice to see some flowers in these trying times.

……The same trees as the last post but taken a little further down the road with a longer lens. A prime candidate for mono this one I thought. Hope you are having a great week and be sure to stay Covid safe, Alan;-)……

……A flower on the Chives that thinks it’s above all its peers - I cut it down to size for the group shot!! We are STILL staying securely ‘Locked Down’ AT HOME to stay safe and also to NOT be a vehicle to the virus, we could be or we could meet “stealth carriers.” - Covid-19 does not have legs (or wings) so obeying the 2 meter rule is sound advice too. Reflections on a Scottish Loch

Scotland, United Kingdom. Mobile phone photography during Social distancing regime.

Sometimes our identities get distorted because people lie about us and scare us, and sometimes our identities get distorted because of things we’ve actually done. The result is the same, though. Isolation. ~ Donald Miller

I've returned home from my mainland trip with another round of covid19.

Feeling really crappy and frustrated as i've got a lot of things I need to do and i'm in isolation for a week.

But anyway, this image was taken inside an abandoned 'Mechanics Institute' building on the side of the road in an easily missable place called Kurting in central Victoria, Australia. I've taken some amazing images inside this haunting building - the best are yet to come.

♪ AYREON - Day two: Isolation ♪

Me:

I can't move, I can't feel my body

I don't remember anything

What place is this…how did I get here?

I don't understand, what's happening…

Am I alone?

Fear:

You've been deserted, everyone has left you

You know it's always been that way

Those frantic years, the people you've neglected

Now the time has come to pay

You're alone

No one here is dancing to your tune

Me: Is this a dream or is it real?

Reason: Sometimes the dream becomes reality

Me: But I don't know what to feel

Reason: Then I will guide you through this haze

Me: But who are you, why are you here?

Reason: I am you and you are all of us

Me: I can't think, my mind ain't clear

Reason: Then I will free you from this maze

Passion:

Can't you feel it burn

Deep down inside?

Won't you ever learn

Don't try to hide

Can't you feel that fire

Scorching your soul?

A wounded man's desire

Out of control

Pride:

I can't believe you're giving up

That's not your way

I can't believe you'd pass the chance to make them pay

You've always had complete control

Never thinking twice

You always called the shots, a heart as cold as ice

Me: You're all delusions of my mind

Reason: And so we are, we're all a part of you

Me: Am I a part of some design?

Reason: The one design is in your head

Me: How can it be, you look so real…

Reason: We are as real as you imagine us

Me: I can touch you, I can feel…

Reason: Then take my hand and follow me

Passion: chorus 1

Pride: chorus 2

Love:

Close your eyes, listen to your heart beat

Surrender to its soothing pulse

Silence the cries, gentle and carefree

Good or bad, true or false…

You're not alone

You'll find me here whenever they oppose you

I am the strongest of them all

No need to fear these feelings that enclose you

I'm here to catch you when you fall

You're not alone

I am here, dancing to your tune

We came across this brightly coloured house by accident on our only bad weather day. Luckily we found it again on a much better day.

Infrared.......Another image from my day on Bodmin Moor. These locations are always good for finding isolated trees. You can just see the fir trees in the distance from my previous image. I was really pleased with the skies on this day, the weather was showery with great cloud formations when the rain cleared. Your feedback will be most appreciated.

A cottage on the shore of Hokianga Harbour in Northland NZ. It looked like a boat trip would be the shortest way to a town or a shop. A spot of sun here but the day never cleared.

Cloudy today out my window at home. Might go looking for autumn pictures. Thanks very much for visiting.

The orange light filtering from the window is due to the dark smoky skies outside as a result of nearby wildfires. The air quality was too dangerous to be outside for extended time periods.
