kitesurfing into the pool of light at Bloubergstrand during the Red Bull King of the Waves competition
on friday we learned that a long time flickr chum had passed away on thursday after a long battle with cancer. steve-h (stephen heron) was a supportive and long-time flickr-ite who took the time to stop by and to comment on pictures and to answer questions when flickr was flickering. he will be missed by the thousands of people who followed him. in the comment section below are 2 pictures that i found that put a face with the name. RIP, steve.
..........his photostream is filled with lovely nature photographs- well worth meandering down

btb, these little flowers are about the size of the head of a wooden match
I'm so into you, I can barely breathe
And all I wanna do is to fall in deep
But close ain't close enough 'til we cross the line
So name a game to play, and I'll roll the dice, hey
Oh baby, look what you started
The temperature's rising in here
Is this gonna happen?
Been waiting and waiting for you to make a move
Before I make a move
So baby, come light me up and baby I'll let you on it
A little bit dangerous, but baby, that's how I want it
A little less conversation, and a little more touch my body
'Cause I'm so into you, into you, into you
Got everyone watchin' us, so baby, let's keep it secret
A little bit scandalous, but baby, don't let them see it
A little less conversation and a little more touch my body
Aptly named "Maid of the Mist", the boat overloaded with tourists in thin plastic slickers heads into the mist at the Horseshoe Falls (Canadian Falls). The boat travels amazingly close to the base of the falls, and the tourists get a drenching from the heavy misty shower.
By afternoon, there is usually enough of a breeze to blow the mist onto the tourists standing along the topside sidewalks on the Canadian side of the falls (to the right ), dampening their clothes and coating their expensive cameras.
There are two major waterfalls at Niagara Falls, the American Falls and Horseshoe Falls (Canadian Falls).
Accidentally caught these rays of sun shortly before packing up. No special FX here, I had simply forgotten to remove the polarizer from the lens...
I couldn’t help it…I saw these train tracks that seemed so endless. Around the bend and for as far as the eye could see, they went into the unknown. Seen at the Pier in San Clemente, California.
How far into the sunset could you go if you kept following this road? I'll have to try next time because on this night I had to get home and put groceries in the freezer.
A jeep trail into the Santa Lucia Mountains at Arroyo Seco State Park, Monterey County. We will be in the Sierra Nevada for a few days, hope to get a few nice landscapes ...
Happy Tuesday! Thanks, as always, for stopping by and for all of your kind comments -- I appreciate them all.

Male Bearded Tit / Reedling feeding on reed seeds. Had no choice but to shoot into the sun when he switched to the other side of the path, so tried to expose for him whilst keeping some colour in the background. This sort of thing is a lot easier with a mirrorless camera!
Solo ex-Conrail SD40-2 #8833 brings a modest L318 south into the siding at North Cairo for a meet with northbound M510.
On a crisp March morning, a perfect trio of cascade green veterans cruise into the S curves of Lake Park with mixed freight from Dilworth.
Got positively lost amongst all those amazingly blossoming trees and flowers lately, totally enjoy this time of year! :)

Actually, this leads into Mosquito Creek Park, the forest five minutes from our place. There is a long creek, but no mosquitoes, at least, not in winter.

Pulling out of Glenn siding after a quick meet, 1983 and the MEWFPB-12 slowly roll into Angleton, where it will turn off the Angleton Sub and onto the branch to Freeport. This would be the last shot of a fun chase.
