Celebrated Earth Day with a couple of foxes this year. The subject fox took one last look at us before disappearing into the extreme wild - that is, as it moved from backyard into the adjacent small county nature park. We assumed that it was just checking to maintain social distancing.
McLean, Virginia, Earth Day
Or have something more to gain
I could feel myself growing colder
I could feel myself under your feet
Under your feet
It was you
Breathless and tall
I could feel my eyes turning into dust
And two strangers
Turning into dust

Walking on the Baader Höhenweg offers some nice views, like this one into the Gemsteltal, a side valley of the Austrian Kleinwalsertal.
The houses in the foreground belong to Mittelberg.
This female cardinal has her feathers all fluffed up to fight off the vaunted Polar Vortex that continues to send frigid arctic air south into Iowa.

Fade Into You
by Mazzy Star
I wanna hold the hand inside you
I wanna take the breath that's true
I look to you and I see nothing
I look to you to see the truth
You live your life, you go in shadows
You'll come apart and you'll go black
Some kind of night into your darkness
Colors your eyes with what's not there
Fade into you
Strange you never knew
Fade into you
I think it's strange you never knew
A stranger's light comes on slowly
A stranger's heart is out of home
You put your hands into your head
And then its smiles cover your heart
Fade into you
Strange you never knew
Fade into you
I think it's strange you never knew
Fade into you
Strange you never knew
Fade into you
I think it's strange you never knew
I think it's strange you never knew

The same bull elk as seen in Snake River Crossing is now swimming the main channel in the river with only his head and antlers above the water. As seen off the Oxbow Bend Road in Grand Teton National Park.
Thanks for your views and comments! They are greatly appreciated!
A long exposure on minimalism of pelicans greeting a coastline sunset. I'm surprised by the fact that they hardly moved during the long exposure. Did you notice that we (incl. the pelicans) have a commonality? Yes, we all look into the sunset :)
Thanks for looking, and for the comments and/or faves.

I was walking beside a loch in the hills this morning, the light was lovely. I took these photos of the reeds at the edge of the water, looking into the sun.
Managed to get another one of those colds. So not much time to take pictures right now. But I'm heading down to the south coast at the weekend, so hopefully I will be able to get some different shots.

Stepping into Stockholm this time with my lens after countless scenes from other corners of Sweden, I'm excited to finally bring you the vibrant pulse and modern edge of Södermalm. Bright skies, bold design, and city buzz. Stockholm, you're officially on the map.
Your visit means so much to me, each fave and comment keeps the spark shining bright. Sending a big heartfelt hug from Stockholm to you...
The Science Center in Valencia is a 'Think big' complex. So I tried to find first the small corners to end in the masterpiece of a architecture.

Taken while I was on the dock out into Lake Hancock at Circle B Bar Reserve in Lakeland, Florida. If you look carefully, there is a small fish in this osprey's right talon.

If you'd like to see more of my images, go to schockenphotography.com. I have many more images of eagles and other raptors as well as owls, woodpeckers, hummingbirds, songbirds and mammals and I have a full section on birds in flight which is my specialty.
This has lingered in my 'Flickr possibles' folder since it was taken in Dec 2016, I've toyed with uploading it a number of times but never did so. It's high time it either saw the light of day or be rejected re Flickr once and for all, so I went for the former (obviously!).
The road up to Sywell Grange - a 19th century period farmhouse which you can hire as a wedding venue or rent cottages according to their website. I've never been up there but I drive past it on my "avoid all conurbations" route to & from the M1/Coventry.
Europe, The Netherlands, Zuid Holland, Rotterdam, Wilhelminapier, Las Palmas, Nederlands Fotomuseum, Window, Staircase (slightly cut)
Looking into the Dutch Foto museum, once the Las Palmas veem. It started its life as the technical workshop building of the Holland Amerika Lijn(HAL) and was designed in 1952 by Rotterdam functionalist / modernist architects pur sang Van den Broek & Bakema. It s a typical example of 'Het Nieuwe Bouwen'. After the HAL stopped its transatlantic operations the building was used as a veem (harbour storage facility) for products from the Canary Islands, hence its name.
The building was renovated in 2009 by Benthem Crouwel.
