BAAM ! After 2 years of work, here is finally the monumental underground headquarters of batman : The Batcave

I realized that there were several possible interpretations to determine Batcave's style. I decided to go for a rather classic version with a cave atmosphere!

The base of the Batcave is on 2 plates of 48x48 but in the end, it is much bigger! It is about 1.70m long and I have added LEDs all over the building.

We obviously find in this Batcave, the great classics of the Batman universe, the Batmobiles (different eras), the Bat-computer, the bat-armory, etc ... and the supervillains of course!

Who says Batman, says dark ! The Let's go exhibition gave me the opportunity to showcase Batman's HQ in a special way. The Batcave was in a dark room with beautiful custom lighting effects and

the los angeles department of water and power (LADWP) power plant no. 1 continues to generate hydroelectric energy along the LA aqueduct, nearly 100 years after it went online in 1917 as los angeles' first source of municipal power. this century-old westinghouse turbine (one of five at the plant) is still in use to generate electricity.

Oval Form (Trezion) is one of several versions that Hepworth made around the same time. This particular one belongs to the Te Papa Museum of New Zealand in Wellington. By 1964 Barbara Hepworth was working in bronze as her preferred medium. It was also the year for the dedication in New York of the United Nations sculpture Single Form. www.flickr.com/photos/luminosity7/52626058043/in/datepost...

It is possible to see the swirling waters of Cornwell's stormy bays in this sculpture, and Hepworth would probably not disagree. But essentially the issue of interpreting modern art was dealt with in one of the most important essays ever written on the question of modern art and interpretation. It was by Susan Sontag in 1966 and its title says it all: Against Interpretation. It is only a few pages long and should be read by all art lovers and those seeking to improve their education. static1.squarespace.com/static/54889e73e4b0a2c1f9891289/t...

My interpretation of synecdoche: you can see more than the fotograf shows. The picture tells a lot about the landscape and most of all the tower in the right part is a pointer to a church, there must be a village and so on.

the look that kills

Rameswaram (India) - This photo requires a caption, as it can be misinterpreted. You would think that the man realizes that I am trying to photograph his wife without his knowledge. In a sense, he is not mistaken. I already have several portraits of this lady.

Seeing his gaze, if I weren't the author of this photo, I would be like, "It's going to be bad for the photographer." In fact, while it is true that the man was surprised at my presence when he turned his head, despite appearances he was not angry. His look, admittedly unfriendly, surprised me.

So when he asked me to see the photo, I did so so as not to escalate the situation. I expected him to ask me to erase the image. But no ! When he saw the photo, he called his wife to see it too. She was delighted, especially since I took the opportunity to show her the portraits I had made of her moments before. The husband kept the same serious and withdrawn air throughout the discussion that followed. But he showed no aggression and stayed slightly behind. When I left, he put his hands together and bowed his head slightly in respect, to say goodbye to me. Never trust appearances.

The new year is almost starting and I wanted to give a glimpse of one of my personal projects.

This project will be an interpretation of the Swan Lake. I’m still amazed that this incredibly talented ballet dancer @mikaeladances said yes and joined me in this journey.

We met sometime ago in Norfolk, VA which will be the location for the photos. It was just a warm up for what we expect to accomplish.

I know, I must be out of my mind to even attempt to do a project of this depth!

I’m beyond thrilled to say the least. I have no doubt we’ll do some magic together! I can’t wait to dive into this project!

I’ll share more details on how we’ll explore this fascinating tale when the time comes.

In the meantime I’m going to share some images we snapped on our first meeting for testing and for fun, of course.

My interpretation of the Iron Throne of Westeros from the "A Song of Ice and Fire" novels by George R. R. Martin and the HBO Original Series "Game of Thrones".

"The Iron Throne was constructed by Aegon I Targaryen, the first king of the Seven Kingdoms. Aegon the Conqueror had the throne made from the swords surrendered by his enemies. It is supposed to have taken a thousand blades to make, heated in the breath of Balerion the Black Dread. The hammering took fifty-nine days."

Slicing through the Koma River valley below a Japanese graveyard is a limited express service bound for Chichibu, served by the stylish Seibu 001 Series. Designed by Kazuyo Sejima, and built by Hitachi in 2019, the 001's, also nicknamed "Laview", are used exclusively on limited express services between Ikebukuro and Chichibu in Saitama Pref. They boast some of the largest windows of any train in the world, nearly reaching from floor to ceiling. It really is a modern interpretation of style and function coexisting.

Varvara Stepanova (1894 – 1958) was a Russian artist. With her husband Alexander Rodchenko, she was associated with the Constructivist branch of the Russian avant-garde, which rejected aesthetic values in favour of revolutionary ones. Her activities extended into propaganda, poetry, stage scenery and textile designs.

It's not a particularly beautiful spot, this bridge-over at the crossing of Symonds Street and Wellesley. And it's rather a shock as you come out of pretty Albert Park just behind the university at the right. But this Art Installation by Francis Uprichard (1976-) is her fine attempt at not so much beautification as to take one's mind off ugliness.

It's called 'Loafers', and the name is perhaps tongue-in-cheek with regard to university students... As I stood here looking, though, none stopped to loaf but they seemed -heavily laden with notebooks of paper and electronics - intent on their tasks. The snake at the right... Is it a symbol of knowledge leading to perdition; think Paradise Lost... an end to loafing around in Eden and having now to toil for sustenance?

Ah! Interpretations and Over-interpretations!

Bois du Breuil, Forest of Breuil. A rich forest, part of the commune of Équemauville and overlooking the communes (towns/villages) of Honfleur, Vasouy and Pennedepie as well as the River Seine. It belonged to the Dukes of Normandy until 1204 when King Philippe Auguste conquered Normandy and the forest passed to the French kings. Located 4km from Honfleur, the Bois du Breuil is one of the rare forests on the coastline and is open to the public. This forest, covering 120 hectares, is the property of the Conservatoire du Littoral (Coastal Conservancy). Great variety of species (32 listed species including oak, beech, Scots pine and maritime pine), a fine population of naturalised rhododendrons, large 1,200m path lined with beech trees dating from 1850. Preserved natural wealth thanks to meticulous management in keeping with nature. Access via the RD62 (Equemauville-Pennedepie road). 2 car parks. When I took this photo about a year ago, I had no idea of its significance other than a leaf from a tree had fallen and had been stuck between the steels of a fence.

I did not think this photo would come to life one day in my dream. It was not about the fence itself but rather the lack of it.

I dreamed the other day that all the fences in my backyard were dug out and removed leaving nothing but deep trenches along the property line. I think there is a very powerful message behind this image to what my dream represents.

My book of dreams tells me that the fence represents some kind of barrier or obstacle. Since it is at my backyard, most likely it is at home. Its removal means a division or obstacle is removed. Now it is open for many interpretations? What is your interpretation?

A rare but favorite version of this song:

A British idiom, meaning "there are much worse things than this". Probably owing its origin to the reputation of the sea as a place of disasters, wrecks and death.

Native English speakers offer another interpretation, that's to say "It is not that bad". This is a more optimistic interpretation.

This reminds me of the Engineer's Consolation, namely

"you can't fall off the floor" .

Taken From The Santander to Portsmouth ferry.

This bolder is literally centimetres away from the heart of the Strid. (For those of you that don’t know the Strid, it’s a short length of water only a few meters wide that the rather sizeable river Wharfe is forced to go through).

For me this image speaks for itself, so I’m going to let you come up with your own interpretations...

This is one of those images, I think, that is subject to the viewer's interpretation. I'd really love to know what anyone has to say or thinks about it. (:

Another lith re-interpretation of an older negative. I love how this one turned out, very colorful and nice tones overall!

The paper used here was ancient Revue BS 13 RC stock that was completely fogged. I couldn't even make a test strip as it would simply turn 100% black in normal developer. I ended up eyeballing/guesstimating the exposure time instead.

The print has a slight texture of microscopic black dots all over it. You can hardly see it on this upload.

I like this print much better than the direct negative scan I uploaded to Flickr a while ago.

Interpretation .... photographic expressionism.

The estate was designed by Skinner, Bailey & Lubetkin and completed in 1957. The estate includes two Y-shaped eleven-storey blocks, George Loveless House and James Hammett House, and the lower-rise James Brine House, Robert Owen House and Arthur Wade House. The blocks are named after the Tolpuddle Martyrs.

The eleven storey staircase in James Hammett House is identical to the one in George Loveless House .

Naturally any staircase is a sort of machine to climb up or to descend, but in the best Beaux Arts interpretation it is a display, it is a dance; and it certainly enriches the conception of human surroundings and the body if architecture can bring in everyday experience a sort of ballet-like quality—semi-poetic choice—in what otherwise is a purely utilitarian conception… the purpose is not only to climb up and down—it is also to enjoy it in a sort of organic way. Lubetkin

MOC inspired by Ian Spacek's theme track Myriad (www.flickr.com/photos/89235500@N02/16467418271/).

Build for the Symphony of Construction contest (paulvermeesch.com/symphonyofconstruction/).

I probably listened to the track about a hundred times while I was building. Contest aside, this really is a pure interpretation on my part. The theme made me think of a soundtrack for a super epic movie.

The hardest part was picking a moment in the track to illustrate with a single still image. I figured the moment when two sides of a battle meet is probably the strongest moment in a war scene.

I am usually not fond of builds with a framed base, but I find it works here, as you can imagine there are thousands more soldiers outside the frame.

I am happy with this build, I hope some of you are too ;)
