Happy Tree-mendous Tuesday!

Interlocking building as a concept of balanced interaction between wall and opening. This allows views into the environment and at the same time offers windowless wall surfaces as a place of retreat.

Train EDPL diverges from the Springfield Line onto the Waterbury Branch at Willow Interlocking in Berlin.

We all know that diversity makes for a rich tapestry, and we must understand that all the threads of the tapestry are equal in value no matter what their color.

The sun sets over the former mill town of Lawrence, Massachusetts as a pair of blue dip C40-8s bring POAY through CPF-AS (Andover Street). The train will be interchanged with CSX at Ayer later that night and would become M427 for Selkirk. In one of the first operational changes since the Pan Am takeover, CSX essentially eliminated the POAY/AYPO trains and extended M426/M427 to Portland mere days after the takeover.

BNSF L-CHI657 (the Paducah turn) rumbles over the diamond at Waltonville with the Union Pacific's Pinckneyville Sub. The Pinckneyville Sub is mostly out of service, only seeing storage trains these days. A pair of Warbonnets lead today's 657.

NS 234 eases through the interlocking at Worthington, OH with a massive train in tow.

The Kilfitt 90mm macro lens from the 1950s produces this characteristic and quite unique double circle bokeh. The lens includes a 'bi-radial' element, which effectively makes it an early aspherical lens design, something that's usually considered to be a modern innovation. I'm not sure if the design had the desired effect but it does something no other lens can do. It gets more normal stopped-down a little :-)

This crazy one piece wooden tripod is for holding either the reflecting stainless globe, Lens Ball, or a globe. Carved so that one piece became three hinged pieces interlocked into one.

Not quite sure if this was a demonstration of love or anger.

Easing through BN Interlocking on BN 1 of the KCT is BNSF train L-HLA6921-09I led by a pair of former BN SD60M's. They're approaching 30th St., where they'll hop onto the BNSF Ft. Scott Sub. Today, they're operating south out of BNSF's Murray Yard en route for Spring Hill for their routine industry work. 2/9/23.

I would love to tell the viewer that this is a pure Pennsy slide...however, the Penn Central cabin car and boxcar behind the U28C helper tells us this not a Pennsy scene. Despite being shot five months into the Penn Central era, this westward facing slide gives us a great view of how the east end of the tunnels in Gallitzin looked in the prime of the Pennsy. The call sign for SF interlocking stands to the side of the tracks, slowly being devoured by vegetation - a sign of things to come, for sure!
