On Saturday Nov 24, 1973 a United States Navy Douglas Super DC-3 airplane was forced to land on Sólheimasandur’s black sand beach in the south of Iceland after experiencing some severe icing.

Luckily all crew members survived the crash, but the airplane’s fuselage was abandoned.

Béziers Cathedral (French: Cathédrale Saint-Nazaire-et-Saint-Celse de Béziers) is a Roman Catholic church located in Béziers, France.

The edifice dates from the thirteenth century, having been erected on the site of an earlier building that was destroyed during the Massacre at Béziers in the Albigensian Crusade. The cathedral was formerly the seat of the Bishopric of Béziers, which was dissolved by the Concordat of 1801 and annexed into the Diocese of Montpellier

Last week I posted a photo of the outside of this house at Avoncroft Museum of Buildings. The inside has been presented as it could have been when first built in the 16th Century.

The house, called The Town House at the museum, was originally in Bromsgrove. It was demolished in 1962 and eventually reconstructed at the museum, opening to the public in 1967.

HSS!

I don't think this is exactly what my instructor wanted when he gave us our assignment for this week. I love it!

Photo taken through a dirty window looking into the bathhouse at Coe Hall. The purpose of the interiors assignment is to learn how to adjust the camera for the various types of light encountered indoors. Used the polarized filter here.

I don't think I'm ever going to make page 1 of Explore...... sigh......

Bourg en Bresse...........

The church of Brou, a suburb of Bourg-en-Bresse, is of great artistic interest. Marguerite of Bourbon, wife of Philip II of Savoy, had intended to found a monastery on the spot, but died before her intention could be carried into effect. The church was actually built early in the 16th century by her daughter-in-law Marguerite of Austria, wife of Philibert le Beau of Savoy, in memory of her husband. The exterior, especially the façade, is richly ornamented, but the chief interest lies in the works of art in the interior, which date from 1532. The most important are the three mausoleums with the marble effigies of Marguerite of Bourbon, Philibert le Beau, and Marguerite of Austria. All three are remarkable for perfection of sculpture and richness of ornamentation. The rood loft, the oak stalls, and the reredos in the chapel of the Virgin are masterpieces in a similar style.

Finished pieces from my mixed media project. Some of these I have shared before while they were works in progress. Evolution is a process. Sometimes, I make things and then deconstruct them a few days later, rebuilding until the piece says exactly what I want it to, how I want it to be said. These are among the pieces that made the final cut, along with recent ones in my stream.
