I've always wanted to photograph this building and since you can't trespass on their property I had to walk down the exit ramp some ways. It's actually two buildings and you can see the other half in the reflection. I used a tripod and merged three exposures into one in Lightroom. I almost went B&W but decided to keep it as is since the colors work well with each other.
Wimpole interior 4.45
Wimpole was listed in the Domesday Book of 1086. At that time there was a moated manor house set in a small 81 hectares (200 acres) deer-park.Situated to the north and south of this were three medieval villages: Bennall End, Thresham End and Green End.
The estate was held by the Chicheley family for more than 250 years, beginning in 1428 with Henry Chichele who was Archbishop of Canterbury.

When in Cambridge this time we stayed at Christ's College - in what is, during the Academic year, student accommodations. It was much more charming than that might suggest, especially since this was a rather large room in a house built in 1823, with historical features (such as the windows in re-imagined Tudor style) preserved.

This Gothic style chapel adjoining King's College (which itself was established in 1441) is known as King's College Chapel which was built 1446-1515. This very grand building is somewhat of a symbol of Cambridge, and is also famous for having the world's largest fan vault.

a house in a house is a house ...
you are always surprised when you enter a building, because the interior is always larger than expected from the outside ... Security (in connection with cosiness) is simply the greatest ...
man ist immer übererascht, wenn man eine Gebäude betritt, weil der Inneraum immer größer ist, als von Außen erwartet ... Geborgenheit ist einfach das Größte ...
