Able to fire 100 laser bolts powerful enough to smash a hole in the hull of a smuggler's ship in under a minute, this turret might not be the most accurate in existence but you still don't want to get on its bad side.
This is a turret for this.

I decided Intergalactic Girl needed a spaceship. So I built her one inspired by various Peter Morris designs, in particular his VR-8d medium fighter.
Yes, I know I put missiles on a Morrisfighter. I'm sure that breaks some kind of unwritten rules. I'll do penance for that later.
Thanks for Peter for build advice, and for being an inspiration.

Today's story and sketch "By me" swooping down from the sky you see Test Pilot

Randy is here not only to test flight the new X wing

Intergalactic Holiday Inn, and as today's grand marshal will cut the ribbon to the new
Park Entrance Bridge which has forty thousand super LED lights which at night can be

Palm Beach Wharf,
Sydney, Australia.
A Bit of an Epic.
The Focus camera group that I belong to had organised a night of astrophotography on the northern beaches of Sydney at Barranjoey Headland.
Its about 110kms from where I live and would normally take me around 90mins if there wasn’t much traffic.
We were meeting at 7.30pm so I left at early at 4.30pm, as I knew I’d be hitting peak-hour traffic.
Things were going pretty smoothly most of the way on the M4 freeway, until there was an accident.
The traffic slowed to an absolute crawl - I probably could of walked faster.
Eventually I turned off the freeway and hoped the pace would pick up but to my dismay I was met by another traffic snarl.
Turns out there was an another accident up ahead on this road as well - talk about bad luck!
So much for leaving early and allowing enough time for traffic!
The 7.30 meeting time arrived and I was still more than half an hour away from my destination.
My temper was well & truly frayed by this point in time and I almost abandoned the photoshoot.
I sent the organisers a message to let them know not to wait for me.
As I was passing thru Newport I decided to stop for dinner and try to calm down.
There’s a great seafood takeaway joint there, so I ordered some fish & chips & calamari.
I grabbed my food and headed for the beach.
There was a bottle shop across the road so I bought a couple of Little Creatures pale ales.
I sat by the beach and enjoyed my dinner and washed it down with the cold beer.
A cool breeze gently blew and I started to chill out.
After my pitstop, I jumped back in the car and headed for Barranjoey Headland.
By the time I arrived, It was well over 4hrs since I left my home in the Blue Mountains!
I put my F-Stop Loka backpack on, switched my head-torch on, and headed out into the night along the sandy shore of Pittwater.
I noticed a turn-off to the right and headed inland, but it turned out to be the wrong track as it took me to a secluded beach.
I doubled back along the sandy trail and wondered what else could go wrong tonight.
I finally found the right track up to the headland and the lighthouse, and started the steep climb up.
Eventually, when I finally reached the top of the plateau, it was so late that all that the group were basically getting ready to head back down.
I started to take a few photos but was not really enjoying it or felt like I was ‘in the zone’.
Eventually, the crew headed back down and I was alone up on the headland.
At first it felt a bit eerie being up there on my own, but slowly I started to feel more comfortable.
I began to explore the plateau looking for interesting foregrounds to help with my shots, and felt the creative juices beginning to flow.
Even though Barranjoey Headland is near some developed areas, I was surprised at how many stars were out and how good the Milky Way looked.
I stayed up there for about an hour and a half, and when the wind started to whip up, it made it fairly chilly as its quite exposed up there.
Finally, it was time to head home, so I made my way down the steep trail back down to the car.
I was feeling a bit more satisfied now as I’d gotten some decent shots after a real mission to get there.
When I got to the bottom I sent a msg to the crew that I was ok.
As I was driving down Barranjoey Rd, I passed Palm Beach Wharf, and it looked quite good lit up.
It’s rare that I get up that way, so figured it was worth a look.
I took a few photos there and headed south on the road again.
Now I felt like I was getting a second wind even though it was after midnight.
Where else could I head to on the way home?
So further south I decided to make another pitstop at Turrimetta Beach, which is a very popular beach with seascape photographers.
There were still a decent amount of stars visible, though not as good as up on the headland, also no Milky Way to include in my images.
There’s a couple of large rocks at the beach, and I included them in my foreground, by doing some light painting with my LED torch.
After I left the beach, I drove back down towards the freeway.
I remembered the shipwrecks at Homebush Bay and decided to make one more detour on the way home.
I arrived there to find the conditions quite calm with mirror-like reflections.
I took a couple of shots, but was quite unimpressed with the results as the pre-dawn light looked quite flat in the early hours of the morning.
Then I remembered I had a powerful Brinkmann spotlight in the car, so I grabbed it and setup again to do some more photography.
Using the spotlight to lightpaint the wrecks and the mangroves, I was now getting some great shots and the reflections in the water were amazing!
The question was should I wait for sunrise in a couple of hours or call it a day?
I was getting pretty tired and contemplated trying to get a couple of hours sleep in the car before first light.
In the end I thought the wise call was to head home.
I headed west on the freeway towards the Blue Mtns with the windows down and the music cranked right up to stay awake.
I struggled to keep my eyes open I was so tired, but thankfully made it home in one piece over 12hrs after I left home.
What a night!!!

Really it's frost on the windshield. It had a gray background, which I darkened and converted to black and white to remove a slightly blue cast.

Now that all my 'important' projects are completed, I'm getting everything else in shape for BrickCon 2010, starting with another one-off scene for Mr Hawking here. Exactly one person 'got' Hawking Radiation last year! Hopefully everyone will 'get' this one.

Shot with the GX8, 15mm at f/1.7, exposure 13 sec and ISO5000. I was driving around in the dark searching for a scenic spot to shoot the Milky Way over the lake, and I had this location set on my GPS. Conditions were degrading and I was just about packing up to drive back home, when I found this little spot with some snow-covered ice on the lake. There was an airplane flying over and I thought it looked nice in the frame. I was pointing the camera at constellation Cygnus and Cepheus in NNW, brightest star is Deneb above the airplane. I spotted a few really bright Quadrantids meteors, but as per usual none during captures. 😁
