This faint Globular Cluster is residing at a distance of 270,000 light years – that is further than the Large Magellanic Cloud (a satellite galaxy to the Milky Way). However, its common name of the “Intergalactic Wanderer” is likely misleading, since it is gravitationally bound to our galaxy. At that distance I did not expect to resolve any of the stars in NGC 2419; and it proved harder to see than its listed 10.3 magnitude suggested. It was very diffuse/faint and uniform (no indication of a core could be seen in the 110mm refractor). I had to work to see this distant globular, but I did have the advantage of having a pair of brighter stars pointing to it (so I knew where to look). Bumping up the magnification did the trick. It appeared to me more like what I expected a reflection nebula to look like. An interesting but difficult object in the small refractor.

Done with the 50 1.4 at ISO 3200. Shows excellent 2nd hand usage for a carpets cardboard box.
Here is my 2nd attempt at star trails. Much better than my first attempt, but still plenty more to learn.
I got sick and tired of taking photos in the cold, so I set up my tripod at my bedroom window and waited in the warm.

While down at the Airship salvage yard recently pocketing..I mean "collecting" relics from some old seized sky pirate craft, I noticed something was very different looking in the back lot. Rounding a heap of old Tesla generators, I stood in awe of the hulking behemoth before me. The writing on it's hull just barely visible, but still readable. "Slipstream II" This was one of the first true Intergalactic airships, and had been an engineering marvel in it's day. Of course I had to bring back a few odds and ends..ahem! This little wonder Was made by SpaceSeed Inc. (copper tag at top of light says so :) and came from one of the crew quarters. I say it was multitasking and space saving at it's finest! Every single crew member from officer to deckhand was required to help provide food along the journey, by utilizing these lights in their living quarters throughout the ship. Instead of taking up an entire section of the craft for the germination of vegetables and herbs, you would plant a couple seeds in fertile moist soil in the little metal cup that was cradled below the bulb, and the light and warmth would do the rest. Workers would come by from the hothouse with big carts full of fresh cups and collect the spouts every couple of days. From there, they would transplant the produce to larger growing containers, and the cycle would continue. Ingenious no?......
This steampunk hanging lamp was designed by me at River Otter Widget Studios, From it's patina to the copper tag for the Spaceseed logo, this functional seed germinator just needs soil seeds and water to do exactly that! I believe highly in art that can be used, It makes it more fun. Cup is removable (see pic) for watering sprouts
Day 1 - Saigon.
Amazing retro woven rattan chairs in one of the upper lobbies of the Rex Hotel. The furniture equivalent of ice "chinking" in a cocktail glass, these golden dreams punctuated the end of many of the hotel's ghostly corridors. The whole place had this intoxicating "spirited away" quality.
During the Vietnam war the hotel became the base for the American Information Service, synonymous with the “five o’clock follies” - foreign correspondent press briefings.
Worlds come in all shapes in sizes.
Tubele is unique in it's flora and fauna only, there are countless planets with magmatic oceans and rocky islands, but only Tubele has animals that are in general larger than its plants. Even a miniscule Jizfly can topple a tree like a blade of grass...
Should I do more, make it a series?
My daughter bought her own minifigures today, LEGO Series 7 Grandma Visitor (why don't they just call her Little Red Riding Hood) and LEGO Series 6 Intergalatic Girl. She wanted to hunt for Series 6 Classic Alien but her mom brought the Series 8 catalog and she saw the Alien Villainess instead. Good thing a friend of mine is selling some Series 8 minifigures and I'm looking forward to getting this for my kid along with mine, Diver, Santa, Conquistador, and Pirate Captain).
All I need now is a wolf or a werewolf and a grandma looking figure.
At least now my Galaxy Patrol Wiz has a date :)
I mean he looks cute enough...but what if that little bag is his briefcase and he has to make sure she abides by the conditions of her ASBO? Have I introduced a Criminal Element into my dolly family?
