The time finally came for me to say goodbye to my sweet friend. She stayed long enough to support me through a difficult but positive transition with my heart condition; I feel she brought me luck!!

She has also brought me much inspiration, just as my friend Lisa who sent her to me does, as well as the special far away friend who she has been sent to visit. It was difficult to part with her (and even more difficult to make the decision to send her so far) but I knew when she had finally chosen her next destination that it was time to let her go. I'm anxiously awaiting her arrival at her next temporary home ... praying she makes it there safely ♥

This window had the most amazing late afternoon light coming in. And the way it illuminated the linen curtains made this feel like a warm summer day (even though it was winter and 7F outside!!).

I also wanted to post this because it reminded me of the wonderful window shots that this talented flickrite does. If you've never seen her photostream, you're seriously missing out. She's a true inspiration!

I have another photo that I took with Jess and this window that I'll post later. But the window/curtain itself were so beautiful that I had to post this as it is.

P.S. - I'm back in SF!!!

Day 3 of 5 day road trip - Green River, UT to Cortez, CO... These photos by my grand daughter - KK - navigator and resident photographer for the balance of the trip. We drove down a series of switchbacks with a 16% grade... when they said 5 mph they were not kidding. We drove across the Valley of the Gods to enter Monument Valley, Utah.

The richness I achieve comes from Nature, the source of my inspiration.

> Thanx for the comment about this landscape photography. I didnt expect I could come up with such a good picture. My cam is not that high end but it doesnt matter so much now anymore. Just play on with a lot of factors that may affect the image plus a lil adjustment on the pc makes magic LOL Thanx for all the encouragement guys it spurred me up.

Tatzkie!

Inspiration can be so hard to stimulate. It takes effort, it takes a certain frame of mind, and it takes persistence. Sometimes it needs a catalyst, something to jolt the grey matter and free up the boring predetermined path towards inevitability. Something to infiltrate your mind and help you see the world with a different set of ‘eyes’ and help weave a slightly different set of neural pathways. This can take the form of a piece of writing, a painting, or even a conversation, but one thing is for sure, the lack of inspiration, a blockage in stimuli, is one of the major factors that will dampen the spirits of the creative mind.

Please don’t assume that this arduous journey into the unknown will be a walk in the park, or that you will ever arrive at a destination. No for it to be worthwhile, the further you venture into this barren wilderness without a map or even a compass, the more lost you must become! So why bother? Why put yourself through this arduous emotionally charged journey?

Well paradoxically, the more work you invest in creative development, the more you face those egotistical creative defence mechanisms, the greater the rewards towards an enriched creative experience.

Anyway this is all very well, but how can we force that new direction. How can we break that photographers block! Well you might want to start with guidance, in the form of deeply considered and sensitively applied feedback. It can do wonders if intelligently administered, but best of all from somebody that knows how and when to offer it to you as an individual. All too often people only offer their particular views, just replicating what they would do. (“This is wrong, you want to do it like me” kind of rubbish). But feedback that is given that comes from somebody that has taken the time to understand your creative direction and merely taps into and confirms a pre-existing subconscious knowing, with the main objective of it is to sets your imagination into overdrive, then it’s working.

Anyway, there are many other ways to stimulate inspiration, and many of them will be different for each of us, but the key factor is to enjoy the journey, and what a complex, enjoyable journey it can be.

As always, if you fancy coming along on a workshop, I have some day courses in the north of England and a seascape weekend workshop with Antony Spencer coming up. See my profile for details if you’re interested...

As I prepare for the holiday tomorrow, with all of the hustle, fireworks, crowds, and noise, I wanted to take the time to reflect back at a more peaceful moment from the past.

In this image, which was taken near the falls in Banff National Park, I can clearly remember the sense of peace that I felt when I sat down on the river rocks and took in this gorgeous scenery. Big namaste moment for me as my senses were being filled with the cool air, the mild breeze, the sound of the water rushing over the rocks in the river, the sight of the undeniably beautiful scenery before me, and of course, the over powering sound of the thunderous falls just around the bend.

How I wish, in the heat that surrounds me in Florida, that I could return there again for another dose of relaxation and inspiration. So often, we get so wrapped up in our lives, that we forget to stop and really take it all in - the beauty that surrounds us. So for me as I ready for the events of tomorrow, I will remember the most important aspect of photography for me - the ability to transport myself back to wherever it is I want to be - perhaps not physically, but definitely mentally.... and you know, sometimes that works just fine for me. :-)

Wishing everyone a Happy 4th of July! Thanks for stopping by to view and for all of your comments. I might be a big biased, but I think I have the BEST flickr friends and contacts ever!

Been building this chap lately, first time making a jeep, and I quite like it! Took inspiration from many builders, mainly Carpet Lego.

Black and white filter, because some colours in it just don't look well together xD

Soon, I will modify it into later Willys CJ I think. I also have a pick-up truck built, so stay tuned for next upload sooner than, like 3 months!

On April 9th, I premiered my installation at Dominion Art Gallery, titled "Inspiration". This installation was created via visual cues taken from the wardrobe styling, album art, performance photos, music videos, and promotional imagery put forth by these artists. I'll be releasing all 8 images, one at a time, and today is the third.

This interactive installation can be seen at Dominion Art Gallery, which includes a 3D interactive build corresponding with the images, in addition to some fun gifts at the entrance (in the treasure chest). Check it out here:

This third image is my somewhat modern (mostly due to the dress length) interpretation of Karen Carpenter, inspired by the album cover for the Carpenters' album titled "Close To You".

For this image, I styled my av, created the pose, created an EEP for environemental lighting and lights for the set, photographed, and did the editing after.

Here's what I'm wearing:

Head: Lelutka Simone

Body: Maitreya Lara

Hair: TRUTH - Meadow - No Hat (tinted in editing)

Bangs: Magika - Bangs - Midnight (tinted in editing)

Dress/sleeves: ISON - sienna dress - white

Shoes: S@BBiA - Gladiator Wedge Sandal (color changed from ivory to white in editing, to match the dress)

Choker: RAMA - Shine Away Velvet Choker Black

I have been busy sewing for Blythecon Europe in June, but I still have a lot to do and plan! It's the first time I will have a stall and I am nervous/excited :)

I am a student so I spent the Easter holidays sewing. These are some of the outfits I am working on. I've been getting inspiration from many things. The other day I started a little tumblr blog here: cosmiadoll.tumblr.com/ with the intention of having a little place other than flickr to share and write about doll related things. If you are on tumblr please follow me, I would love to follow some blogs too!
