Dimly to the extreme right is the edge of the McEwan Hall. Behind it is the Reid School of Music. To the left and centrally, brightly lit, is Teviot House, the Student Union. To the left of that at the back is the Appleton Tower. Coming forwards and to the left is the new Potter Row Development, the building in front of the Appleton Tower being the Informatics Forum. Finally to the left is the Dugald Stewart Building, home of the School of Philosophy, Psychology, and Language Science.
Slightly to left of centre is the circular paving of what has become the Teviot Square skateboard rink, and a few times a year is the gathering place of new graduates and their friends and relatives, the graduation ceremony having taken place in the McEwan Hall.
There were people wandering about, but moving too fast to register on the exposure of 20 seconds.

People from the scattered Informatics empire are in the process of moving in. The huge South Bridge fire of 7th December 2002 scattered the old Artificial Intelligence Department, which soon joined forces with other related depts (such as Computer Science) to form the School of Informatics. The fire helped to obtain the funding for the new building.
It looks as though the Appleton Tower is nearly finished too :-)
