These winter months are starting to take a toll on my mental health the older I get.

Covid doesn't help this situation at all.

I do fear for those who are prone to depression and other mental health concerns during this time of lockdowns and social distancing.

The view from the Bridge of Sighs was the last view of Venice that convicts saw before their imprisonment. The bridge's English name was bequeathed by Lord Byron in the 19th century as a translation from the Italian "Ponte dei sospiri", from the suggestion that prisoners would sigh at their final view of beautiful Venice through the window before being taken down to their cells. In reality, the days of inquisitions and summary executions were over by the time that the bridge was built,[citation needed] and the cells under the palace roof were occupied mostly by small-time criminals.[citation needed] In addition, little could be seen from inside the bridge due to the stone grills covering the windows.

Walls surrounding the bailey of Carisbrooke Castle on the Isle of Wight, seen through an archway on the castle's keep. The castle is in the village of Carisbrroke, just outside the town of Newport, the county town of the Isle of Wight. Managed by English Heritage, the castle is best known for being one of the places that tyrannical king Charles I was imprisoned by parliamentary forces following his defeat in the English Civil War.

imprisoned in the zoological garden of Wuppertal. My grand-son Fabian was 5 years old and quite familiar with the animals and houses there, so he approached the leopard's house, but not too close. Suddenly the big cat jumped against the metal grid and would have attacked my kid without this shelter.

Venice's only covered bridge, linking Ducal Palace to the prison. The name supposedly comes from prisoners getting their last brief glimpse of the outside world before being imprisoned for the rest of their lives!

Wensleydale is the valley (dale) of the River Ure on the east side of the Pennines in North Yorkshire, England. Wensleydale lies in the Yorkshire Dales National Park – one of only a few valleys in the Dales not currently named after its principal river, but the older name, "Yoredale", can still be seen on some maps and as the Yoredale Series of geological strata. The village name 'Wensley' is a derivative of Woden's ley, or meadow of the pagan god Woden, while the valley itself takes its name from the village which was formerly a market town. The valley is famous for its cheese, with the main commercial production at Hawes. Wensleydale was the home of one of Yorkshire's most famous clans, the Metcalfes, after they emigrated from Dentdale. The Metcalfe Society hold records dating back to Metcalfes living in the area during the 14th century. They were one of the most prominent families in Yorkshire for over five centuries. Sir James Metcalfe (1389–1472), who was born and lived in Wensleydale, was a captain in the army which fought with King Henry V in the battle of Agincourt in 1415. Metcalfe is still one of the most common surnames in Yorkshire. Bolton Castle in the village of Castle Bolton is a notable local historic site. Mary, Queen of Scots, was imprisoned here. The story goes that she escaped and made her way towards Leyburn only to lose her 'shawl' on the way, hence the name ('The Shawl') of the cliff edge that runs westward out of Leyburn and is a well-known spot for easy walks with excellent views. Wensleydale's principal settlements are Hawes and Leyburn; Aysgarth, Bainbridge, and Middleham are well-known villages. The shortest river in England, the River Bain, links Semerwater to the River Ure, at Bainbridge, the home to an Ancient Roman fort (part of the Roman road is walkable, up Wether Fell). Hardraw Force, the highest unbroken waterfall in England, is located at Hardraw, near Hawes. Aysgarth Falls (High, Middle, Low) are famous for their beauty (rather than their height), attracting far-off visitors; they were also featured in the film Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves. Other notable waterfalls are at West Burton, and Whitfield Gill Force, near Askrigg. Wensleydale stretches some 25 miles (40 km) from west to east. It lies between Wharfedale (to the south), and the quieter Swaledale (to the north, via Buttertubs Pass). Several lesser-known dales are branches of Wensleydale: on the north side Cotterdale, Fossdale and Apedale and on the south side, from west to east, Widdale, Sleddale, Raydale, Bishopdale, Waldendale and Coverdale. Below Wensleydale, the River Ure flows east and south, becomes navigable, changes its name to the River Ouse, passes through York, becomes the Humber estuary, flows under the Humber Bridge past Hull, Immingham, and Grimsby, and meets the North Sea off Spurn Head. On the way it collects the waters of the River Swale, River Nidd, River Wharfe, River Aire, River Derwent and River Trent.

Oxburgh Hall is a moated country house in Oxborough, Norfolk, England, today in the hands of the National Trust. Built around 1482 by Sir Edmund Bedingfeld, Oxburgh has always been a family home, not a fortress. The manor of Oxborough came to the Bedingfeld family by marriage before 1446, and the house has been continuously inhabited by them since their construction of it in 1482, the date of Edward Bedingfeld's licence to crenellate. A fine example of a late medieval, inward-facing great house, Oxburgh stands within a square moat about 75 metres on each side, and was originally enclosed; the hall range facing the gatehouse was pulled down in 1772 for Sir Richard Bedingfeld, providing a more open U-shaped house, with the open end of the U facing south. The entrance, reached by a three-arched bridge on the north side, is dramatised by a grand fortified gatehouse, evoking the owner's power and prestige, though as fortification its value is largely symbolic; it is flanked by tall polygonal towers rising in seven tiers, with symmetrical wings extending either side that reveal nothing on the exterior of their differing internal arrangements. About 1835 the open end of the U was filled in with a picturesque, by no means archaeologically correct range that recreated the central courtyard. Other Victorian additions include the Flemish-style stepped gables, the massive southeast tower, the oriel windows overhanging the moat (illustration, left) and terracotta chimneys. Four towers were added to the walled kitchen garden. The hall is well known for its priest hole. Due to the Catholic faith of the Bedingfeld family, a Catholic priest may have had to hide within the small disguised room in the event of a raid. The room is reached via a trapdoor, which when closed blends in with the tiled floor. Unlike many similar priest holes, the one at Oxburgh is open to visitors. The hall is also notable for the Oxburgh Hangings, needlework hangings by Mary, Queen of Scots and Bess of Hardwick. Mary worked on these while imprisoned in England, in the custody of the Earl of Shrewsbury. The estate has a number of woodland walks, including a 'Woodland Explorer' trail. Oxburgh Hall is a popular location for film and television series, including brief appearances in the Dad's Army episode "Museum Piece", and later in You Rang, M'Lord?. It was the major setting for the 1994 television dramatisation of Love on a Branch Line, a novel by John Hadfield. It is a Grade I listed building, the highest-level designation.

Mystic natural sunlight, imprisoned in five ampollas.

No electric light used, shot in outdoor studio at the natural sunset light. Tabletop positioned towards West, fronting the sun setting.

The ceramic ampollas holder is in a brick colour, at the sunset it lent the "rouge nuance" to the glass ;-)

The ampollas filled with light seem to be bulbs...

(Next up-load will show how these ampollas look like)

So I'm having a hard time deciding my philosophy on chains. On one hand it represents strength, that we are stronger when we are tightly bound together. I also see that chains can bind us, imprison us whether in relationships with others or trapped fighting our own demons.

What do chains mean to you?

She thinks to herself....where is that light switch this is costing a fortune to run as I am cutting down on my living costs. Grrrr stupid hardwired.....antiquated piece of junk.

Kilmainham Gaol (Irish: Príosún Chill Mhaighneann) is a former prison in Kilmainham, Dublin, Ireland. It is now a museum run by the Office of Public Works, an agency of the Government of Ireland. Many Irish revolutionaries, including the leaders of the 1916 Easter Rising, were imprisoned and executed in the prison by the British.

We are imprisoned in the realm of life, like a sailor on his tiny boat, on an infinite ocean.

Man’s life is not imprisoned in a realm wherein causality, struggle for existence, will to power, libido sexualis, and the craving for prestige are the only springs of action. Life is not permanently enslaved to these variable motives. It is woven into relations which run far beyond that realm. Besides the struggle for physical existence there is an effort to acquire meaning and value, an endeavor to preserve what is lasting in man, to maintain the essential in all the vicissitudes and changes. But what is the lasting in man? What is the meaning of the whole life, not of particular actions or of single episodes which happen now and then, but of existence as such?

The island of existence is washed by the two oceans of eternity and nothingness, eroding it into what is less and elevating it into what is more than existence, into nothingness and into a higher reality, namely, the identity of event and value, the unity of being and meaning. Existence, the domain of things and facts, is not the ultimate realm. There is a reality of spirit.
