" I am the Guided One, I am the Imam of the Time and I am the One who fills the Earth with Justice just as it was filled with Injustice and Tyranny."

I love this poem.

The Naghsh-e Jahan Square known as Imam Square in Isfahan is one of the biggest city squares in the world and an outstanding example of Iranian and Islamic architecture. It has been designated by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. The city also has a wide variety of historic monuments. nder Abbas, Isfahan became a very cosmopolitan city, with a resident population of Turks, Georgians, Armenians, Indians, Chinese and a growing number of Europeans. Shah Abbas brought in some 300 Chinese artisans to work in the royal workshops and to teach the art of porcelain-making. The Indians were present in very large numbers, housed in the many caravanserais that were dedicated to them, and they mainly worked as merchants and money-changers. The Europeans were there as merchants, Roman Catholic missionaries, artists and craftsmen. Even soldiers, usually with expertise in artillery, would make the journey from Europe to Persia to make a living. Iranian were playing polo at that time in the square.

"By His creation, we are guided to His existence, and by reason we believe in the necessity of knowing Him, and by the innate nature of human beings, His Proof is established."

Imām Alī ibn Mūsā al-Rezā (a.s.)

al-Amaali al-Mufid 30th Assembly, h. 4

History has witnessed a number of great revolutions. Among them mentioned may be made of the French Revolution and Russian Revolution, which left their impacts on the major trends not only their birth place but also in other parts of the world.

Imam Khomeini led the revolution at a time when the two super powers of the world had left no space for a third ideology. But a new ideology based on the divine teachings was introduced to the world and a new path, that is the path of independence and dignity of nations was introduced to the peoples of the world.

At least since 1953 when the United States and Britain engineered a coup against the popular government of Muhammad Musdaq, Iran became a proxy of the United States with Muhammad Reza Shah becoming Washington’s lackey forwarding the interests of the United States and the West European countries at the cast of the national interests of Iran instead of modernizing Iran with the petrodollars, the Shah launched the project of westernization of the country.

These attempts on the one hand led to the devastation of the agriculture and on the other hand Iran of a manufacturing industry.

As a result a great gap was created between the masses and the government.

The Shah’s authorization system did not tolerate any apposition. A large number of apposition figures imprisoned. Some of them were exiled or even eliminated though suspicious ways.

The Shah was absolutely subservient to the United State.

When he tried to pass a law on capitulation, Imam Khomeini protested vehemently, which led to his imprisonment and ultimately his exile to Turkey and from Turkey to Iraq in 1964.

The Shah’s regime another step to eliminate the religion of the people from Iranian scene drove the final nail into the coffin of its regime only.

People protests which began in Qum in 1977 against the publication of a article against Imam Khomeini who was living in exile in Iraq, but were violently crushed by the Shah’s police. The Iranian people commemorated the martyrs of the event after 40 days, but these protests too were violently crushed by the regime.

However, commemoration after commemoration paralyzed the regime.

Having been in exile for 14 years, the Great Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Imam Khomeini arrived in Iran on Feb 1st.

Even the Western news agencies were forced to admit the undeniable fact that between four to six million people turned out to accord an unprecedented, warm welcome to Imam Khomeini.

After the return of Imam Khomeini, the Shah’s regime totally collapsed and the Islamic Republic was established.

Only two months had passed since the victory of the revolution when the people of Iran voted in one of the freest referenda ever in the history of Iran.

Some 99 percent of the people voted ‘Yes’ to the establishment of the system of an Islamic Republic of Iran.

Through the people’s vote Imam Khomeini led the country for ten years and passed all the obstacles including a number of coup attempts, ethnic uprising fueled by the United States of America as well as direct US military attack and also the US-sponsored war imposed by Saddam Hussian.

But, because of Islamic ideology of Islamic Republic of Iran, most rulers of other Muslim nations turned against him and supported Iraq in the impose war against Iran, even though most of Islamic parties and organizations supported his idea, especially the Shiite ones.

Imam Khomeini intended to reconstruct Muslim unity and solidarity. So, he declared the birth week of Prophet of Islam as the Unity Week.

In 1979 Imam Khomeini declared the last Friday of Ramadan as International Day of Quds.

In early 1989 Imam Khomeini issues a fatwa calling for the killing of Salman Rushdi, an Indian-born British author. Imam Khomeini claimed that Rushdi’s murder was a religious duty for Muslims because of his alleged blasphemy against Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) in his novel, the satanic verses. Rushdi die’s book contains passages that some Muslims including Imam Khomeini considered offensive to Islam and the prophet.

In December 1988 Imam Khomeini sent a letter to USSR president Mikhail Gorbachev predicting the fall of communism and inviting him to study and research Islam. In his historic letter he wrote ‘It is clear everyone that Communism should henceforth be sought in world museums of political history’.

During the aggression by the Zionist Regime and the Arab-Israeli wars. The late Imam Khomeini started a massive campaign in support of the revolt of Palestinian Muslims and the frontline.

Former South African president Nelson Mandela described the late Imam Khomeini as a great leader and distinguished politician.

The Islamic Revolution was formed when the global system based upon western values had been stabilized and taken for granted for almost four centuries by the global community. There for, any transition in different aspects of ideology, culture, economy and new dialogues was rooted in the West and never challenged Westernization.

Even great revolutions inside the West, like what happened in China in 1949, Cuba in 1959 were influenced by and ideology which was rooted in the Western System.

But, the Islamic revolution of Iran as a new transition could challenge the Western centered world from different aspects.

* There for it is possible to conclude that the victory of the Islamic revolution if Iran caused profound transition in the international system and global community in the following aspects:

Collapse of the Western bipolar system and posing of the challenges for the system designed in the West.

* Introducing political Islam as a new doorway for negotiation.

* Change of power equation in the International System.

* Overcoming of Islamic revolution by barehanded people against a power which was supported by all super powers, victory of Lebanese forces in Lebanon and Palestinian in Gaza over Israeli forces which were equipped with modern weaponry brought up some new criteria for such as faith, jihad and martyrdom which made it difficult for West to measure and face to propose three elements of spirituality, mortality and justice in the International System.

* To return to the glory of Islamic civilization.

* Islamic Revolution of Iran, Islamic vigilance and its signs and symptoms, made this belief in the great nation of Iran and other Muslims that the revival of Islamic civilization and rapprochement of that glorious era is not only possible but also inevitable is turning into reality.

Today, Iran is the generating source of hope for a world that gains warmth and strength from this beating heart of Islam, which are result of the down of glorious revolution, which was truly a great Islamic resurgence.

A mihrab (Arabic: محراب pl. محاريب) is a niche in the wall of a mosque that indicates the qibla, that is, the direction of the Kaaba in Mecca and hence the direction that Muslims should face when praying. The wall in which a mihrab appears is thus the "qibla wall."
