I decided to re-edit this piece because I felt that the first image hadn’t quite lived up to it’s name nor the moment that I had captured.
The morning I had captured this, a storm had just passed through, the beach was soaking wet from the rain, it was windy and cold - all-in-all it was pretty miserable. I decided to do one last long exposure of about 15 seconds before packing it in. During that 15 seconds the sky lit up like a fire had rolled through, brilliant reds, yellows and oranges burst at the horizon.
Sitting under the pier with my camera, the right side was full of illumination and brilliance and the left side was dark and moody. This re-edit shows (in my opinion) a more accurate telling of what I saw that morning.
Been out sick for a few days :(
Today I'm feeling a bit better. The photo at sunrise is from Chapel Rocks/ Nickerson Beach, not far from Boston.
Best when displayed in large.
Have a great weekend all!

I took this at Minnekhada Park last week. We were going to go for a hike there, but the trails were skating rinks, and I didn't bring my skates :(
But driving out of the park, the sunlight shone through the trees, and it was worth every minute of getting all the way out there.

Being alone, it took a few trips back and forth till I got the LED panels placed right. I was in that area of the Valley of Dreams already 3 times the last two years but never met anybody there. That makes this place very special to me.

My eyes burn naked,
My black cold numbers,
My insecurities,
My devious nature,
Make it go away.
My rest between rubber,
My spider shadow,
My shattered dancer.
Beautiful, broken,
My crystal fingers,
Beautiful, broken,
My crystal fingers.
My glass like rain,
My illumination,
My cracks are sliding,
Shaker, feather,
Rubber, duster,
Cold, cool,
Your fingers, broken,
Beautiful, wonderful,
Paper flaps,
How you love,
Love to love,
Love and stitch,
Shaker, rubber, striper.
Beautiful, broken,
My crystal fingers,
Beautiful, broken,
My crystal fingers.

I have a neighbor who lives in an historically preserved house, with an equally celebrated garden. Yesterday afternoon I got a call from her that her night-blooming cereus, a cactus flower that blooms just once a year, was about to burst. After the sun went down I walked down the lane, and there - on her front porch - was a six-foot cactus with eight amazing white blooms. I can't describe them with any justice, here is one I hope you will like.
While the memory's fading
Underneath the dying sun
You see
Now I won't stop pretending
Seems I'm always on the run
Foresee
That's why I need to chase
The stars under the rain
Of broken satellites
And just to say again
Don't blame me drifting in the space
Between the darkness and disgrace
It's my way
And my illumination
Don't blame me for being myself
I know that it will never end
Someday
Won't need explanation
Don't blame me drifting in the space
Between the darkness and disgrace
It's my way
And my illumination
Looking south, Cache Valley, Utah is seen on a cold January morning. I used 9 exposures at 1 ev spacing (+/- 4 ev) on this one to encompass the larger dynamic range of shooting into the sun.
