I walked trail 1 in Letchworth State Park from the Tea Table area up past the Great Bend Overlook and on to Archery Field and back.
It had clouded over by time I got to Archery Field.

One last photograph from the set. How different it was when I was down there yesterday with snow and bright sun. There are no bad days at Letchworth.
After walking down to the Saint Helena bridge site in Letchworth State Park from the west side, I decided I needed to do the same from the east. The east trail begins by following the abandoned Saint Helena road but due to washouts and hillier terrain soon has to find its own way.
Midway the trail passes a pair of old foundations I stopped on the way down and again on the way up.

Back at Stony Brook State Park a few days later. I had a few shots left on the Argus so I finished up with it before starting walking. Milady knows it is dangerous to be around me when I'm intent on finishing a roll of film.

Rochester (NY) Christian Reformed Church is a long-time participating church in Flower City Work Camp. I had lunch delivery duties for one of the work sites one day the week before the Fourth of July.

Flower City Work Camp is a ministry of Flower City Outreach, an organization that unites Rochester-area churches to deliver a range of services into the City of Rochester. Flower City Work Camp began in 1985 with a group of local youth leaders who had a desire to see their students serve in a meaningful inner-City ministry and a desire to impact the Rochester-area with the life-changing message of Christ’s love. Using a national model, we developed a Rochester-based ministry that reaches the City with God’s love in very practical ways.
Each year, students and adults from nearly 60 churches deliver over 30,000 hours of service by improving homes, mentoring youth at basketball and soccer camps and connecting with younger children in neighborhood Sidewalk Clubs to bring the gospel of Jesus Christ to some of the neediest areas of our city.
Flower City Work Camp serves through:
- Home repairs, including painting, flooring, simple construction, cleaning, yard work, and repairing or replacing ceilings, windows and doors
- Sidewalk Clubs, at which children play games, sing songs, make crafts, eat snacks and, most importantly, hear the life-changing gospel of Jesus Christ
- Basketball camps where children and teens learn basketball skills, Bible verses and how much God loves them
- Prayer walks, during which campers bring the needs of our city before God
Not only does Work Camp provide students in Grades 7 through 12 with a tremendous opportunity to serve God, a lot of effort and planning is also put into challenging the students to grow in their faith. Morning devotions and evening programs filled with worship, prayer, testimonies and teaching are designed to bring students into the presence of God and send them home energized, changed and strengthened.
While students do much of the work, Work Camp is truly a ministry of the entire local church. Youth leaders, parents, pastors and other adults from participating churches are vital and required to make the ministry work. And there are many different opportunities for adults to serve, including as Site Leaders or Sidewalk Club Leaders, food prep and delivery, security, first aid, Home Base supervision and clean-up, or materials transportation.

After taking the two photographs by the pond, I set the camera on the road and looked south in my direction of travel.
Several weeks ago at Letchworth State Park. Walked down to the Lower Falls footbridge then up and around on the loop on the east side. It was a bit breezy and the sun was in and out.

A southeast extension of Letchworth follows the path of the old Genesee Valley Canal. This series of small locks was abandoned close to 150 years ago and was replaced by a railroad line.

After the hike at Dublin Corners Farm Brewery. The beer tent had collapsed in the heavy snow of the previous week. Thankfully there was no serious damage done and they had it up and taut for their Saint Patrick's Day celebration.
I have not shot with the Holga for a couple years. I had forgotten how much fun the miserable thing is.

The film jammed half-way through the roll and I had to open the door to extract, hence the light leaks and scratches.
Letchworth is a waterfall chaser's delight. There are the three main cascades on the Genesee River and there are innumerable falls of assorted shapes and sizes along the tributary creeks on both sides of the gorge. For this photograph I am standing on the path with my back to the Middle Falls.
Friday, June 3 I hiked the Letchworth State Park trail 1 along the west side of the Genesee River gorge end-to-end with a loop back. It was a beautiful day for hiking - a few clouds and high about 75F. I took lots of photographs with the Olympus OM2 and Ilford HP5. Gaia GPS said 15.1 miles for the entire trip, which makes me think trail 1 is longer than the published 7 miles.

The path from the Abbey church to the retreat house dips down into the treeline on the way out to River Road. A branch path has several sets of benches. They are wonderful places for sitting in warmer weather.
My last afternoon at the Abbey was overcast. The OM-2 and I went for a walk.
