Below the Letchworth Middle Falls with with Phoenix 200 and the Ondu 135 Pinhole Camera

Further experiments with Harmon Phoenix 200. I loaded a roll in the Ondu 135 Pinhole Camera and took it to Letchworth. I walked from the Middle Falls up the long stairway to the Upper Falls then back down along Park Road. I got good lessons in what the Phoenix film can and cannot do.

Wednesday, June 4 - Back on the water!

I didn't realize how much I had missed it.

This is the first photograph I have posted from the canoe or kayak since 2013. I thought I had been out more recently than that, but maybe not. I remembered how much fun it is taking photographs from a solo canoe. As soon as you put the paddle down the canoe starts drifting and turning. I had to level this one a fair bit.

Happy with this one!

What a spendid colourful and arresting image issued for Ilford Films, of Ilford in Essex, for the 1953 Coronation Year using the company's 'Selo Soldiers' as the visual play against the stark and highly recognisable colour coded design of the company's roll film boxes - a nice play on the Coronation ceremonies and the company's packaging. This range of boxes was designed for Ilford in c1950 by Milner Gray. The Ilford Company is still with us, dealing in photographic material, although no longer based in the Essex town whose name they bore from 1902 (and to which the local council got the hump!). Based now in Cheshire the concern goes back to 1879 as a maker of photographic plates so it has as long a pedigree as rivals such as Kodak.

The Selo Soldiers date back to at least the 1930s Selo being a type of film produced by Ilford. They even managed to get some folk to dress up for publicity - as seen here!

No agency or designer is credited - pity really. Mind you, how many times can you get the word 'Ilford' into one advert!
