Transpennine Nova IEP 802217 emerges into the light of Yorkshire from the 3 mile Standedge Tunnel. A fascinating spot, with the canal, railway and two further disused railway tunnels all running parallel through the Pennines and of course the River Colne carried over the railway on an aqueduct.

I have managed just a hint of motion blur in the train, first two attempts failed miserably in this respect, speed is, i find, not that easy to portray in the modern day rail scene...

The Plant, was the colloquial name given to the erstwhile Doncaster locomotive works,

where the yellow items of plant are parked on the extreme right, was the works rail entrance/exit, and back in the day loco's would be stood there waiting access or egress from the plant.

As production and testing of the IEP sets continues on the mainline five brand new five coach 800/0 sets intended for GWR stand outside the HItachi factory.

It's worth noting for photographers planning a visit that since my last visit there has been a fair bit of tree growth around the edge of the site and that the view from the rear of the factory has been obscured by a new running shed.

All shots are taken from the public path along the side of the factory.
