Lived in. Keith More hyperrealist pencil drawing of a portrait by the photographer Katherine Whipple. A3 size. Note: I could have gone in and softened things up a little and worked extra detail into the hands to create something more realistic, but I like the abstract vibe of an imposable F stop and some artistic freedom, so I stopped when I liked what I was seeing. Hope you like it too! I used H, B, 2B, 4B & 8B Faber Castell pencils, Staedtler Mars lumnograph 8B, Faber Castell putty eraser, Tombow mono mini eraser, Jakar electronic eraser, S,M,L blending stumps. The paper is Hahnemuhle 190gm Skizzenblock.

There are currently three full-color monographs about her work: Carole A. Feuerman: Sculpture, written by Eleanor Munro and published by Hudson Hills Press, now in its second edition, and Carole A. Feuerman: La Scultura Incontra la Realta, by Gabriele Caioni, which is available in both English and Italian. Her monumental sculpture Grande Catalina is featured in A History of Western Art by Antony Mason and John T. Spike and published by Abrams Books in twelve languages.
Feuerman had her first museum retrospective at the Queens Museum in 1987, followed by her second retrospective at the Southern Alleghenies Museum of Art in 2000. In 2004, her sculpture Sunburn was featured in the highly acclaimed traveling group exhibition “An American Odyssey, 1945/1980: Debating Modernism”, curated by Stephen C. Foster, at the Circulo de Bellas Artes in Madrid. The same year Feuerman had her third retrospective “Resin to Bronze Topographies” at the City University of New York. In 2007 at the Venice Biennale, Feuerman’s monumental sculptures Survival of Serena and Grande Catalina were showcased in a solo exhibition entitled “By the Sea” and curated by John T. Spike. Simultaneous to this, she exhibited in OPEN 2007, an international sculpture exhibition in Venice, and in another solo show at Art-St-Urban in Switzerland entitled “Lust and Desires”. Following these successes, she exhibited in Florence’s Moretti Gallery and was the featured artist in “46 XX” at Moscow’s Na Solyanke State Gallery in Red Square. In 2008 the Archeological Museum in Fiesole, Italy hosted her fourth museum retrospective and was followed by inclusion in “Art and Illusion: Masterpieces of Trompe-l’oeil from Antiquity to the Present” at the Palazzo Strozzi Foundation. The year closed with her fifth retrospective “Silence-Passion-Expression” at the Amarillo Museum of Art in Texas, which was nominated by the AISEI for the best Monographic Exhibition. In 2010, Feuerman’s sculpture Monumental Shower was feautured in “Intimacy, Bathing in Art” at the Kunstmuseum Ahlen in Germany alongside works by ninety artists including Edgar Degas, Louise Bourgeois, David Hockney and Joseph Beuys. Later that year, Feuerman had her sixth retrospective, entitled “Earth Water Air Fire”, at the El Paso Museum of Art, which showcased fifty-two works and premiered her video installations. Following the close of the exhibition, her sculpture Summer was acquired for the museum’s permanent collection. In 2011, she founded the “Carole A. Feuerman Sculpture Foundation” in Mana Contemporary Art Center located in Jersey City, and later that year her bronze sphere New World – AM/PM was featured in “Afterwards and Forward: A ten year 9/11 reflective art exhibition” at the New Jersey City University.
This year began with the announcement of Feuerman’s public art installation with New York City Parks & Recreation from May through September; her most iconic monumental sculpture, Survival of Serena, was unveiled in hyperrealistically painted bronze at Petrosino Square, SoHo for the first time courtesy of Jim Kempner Fine Art. Simultaneous to the exhibition, Feuerman released her first set of prints also featuring the image of Serena. Exhibitions continued at Rarity Gallery in Mykonos, Louise Alexander Gallery in Porto Cervo, Timothy Yarger in Art Aspen and Art Platform LA, Galerie Klose at the Korea International Art Fair, and with Fernando Luis Alvarez Gallery at Art Greenwich SeaFair.
From September through July 2013, Feuerman’s 16 foot bronze diver, The Golden Mean, is publicly installed at Riverfront Green Park in Peekskill with the Hudson Valley Center for Contemporary Art. Also on view through January 2013 at Frederik Meijer Gardens and Sculpture Park is Quan, a new monumental work in painted bronze with polished stainless steel. Feuerman’s sculpture Monumental Brooke with Beach Ball was selected for inclusion at the 2012 Beijing Biennale where it is on view at the National Art Museum of China from September 28 through October 22.
Scheduled for 2013, Feuerman’s newest works will be collectively on view for the first time during a spring solo exhibition at Jim Kempner Fine Art. Her lifesize work The General’s Daughter was chosen by the Smithsonian and will be exhibited at the National Portrait Gallery in Washington, DC from March 23, 2013 through February 23, 2014. During the summer, Feuerman will be returning to the Venice Biennale to showcase her latest monumental works at the entrance of the biennale with the Concilio Europeo dell’Arte and with an additional exhibition at the historic Palazzo Bembo with the GlobalArtAffairs Foundation. On an ongoing basis, her work can be seen in all galleries representing her worldwide.

The miniatures are a mix of things, mostly re-ment.

Recently, I've stareted personal project called "Face It!" ( www.flickr.com/photos/recon_lister/sets/72157629907773317/ ) but very soon I've realised I want to take it to another visual level -more colors, more hyperrealistic, more lighting. So I'm starting Face it! 2.0 and I'm excited about it. (personal note: I didn't know about Martin Schoellers (awesome) Close Up series in time I started:)

Carole Feuerman, Ron Burkhardt
Artist bio
Carole Feuerman is acknowledged as one of the world’s most prominent hyperrealist sculptors. Working in resin, marble and bronze, Feuerman sculpts life-size, monumental and miniature works that encompass her signature trompe-l’oeil technique. In her resin work, Feuerman treats each piece as a 3-dimensional canvas, applying multiple layers of paint to achieve realistic tones. Among her notable awards are the Amelia Peabody, the Betty Parsons Award, the Lorenzo de Medici Prize and First Prizes at the 2008 Beijing Biennale, Austrian Biennale and the Beijing Olympic Fine Arts. Her work is in the selected collections of His Majesty the Emperor of Japan, President Bill Clinton and Secretary of State Hillary Clintonn, as well as the permanent collections of 15 museums worldwide. Collaborator/abstract painter Ron Burkhardt founded both Notism and Earth Art and has won over 200 awards including the Medici Medal. His work is globally acquired by museums, universities and discerning collectors.
About the work
Title: Serenity Lake
Art form: 3-D
Medium: Oil on Resin (Sculpture), Acrylic on Canvas (Painting)
Year created: 2011
Description of work: Serenity Lake is a monumental 12 x 8 x 5' installation that combines Carole Feuerman's hyperrealistic sculpture with Ron Burkhardt's abstract painting.
The collaborative work, whose theme is water, took over a year to create, and reflects the timeless innocence of youth. The sun shining on the child's face, her arms around the colorful beach ball, and the sandy shore remind us of a time of peaceful playfulness, where nothing else matters but the moment. Those quiet, in-between moments where you connect with your thoughts and your soul. With "Serenity Lake", the viewer waits for the child to open her eyes while we wonder what she is thinking.
Michigan native Ron Burkhardt painted the vast acrylic and oil
canvas of his impression of Lake Michigan on which "Serenity" rests, the gorgeous body of water that stretches through miles of beach towns.
This sensual juxtaposition emerges as a joyful tribute to the beauty and ever-changing mysteries of water and life itself.

Akeley Hall of African Mammals
Since its opening in 1936, the Akeley Hall has been considered by many to be one of the world's greatest museum displays. The hall is named after Carl Akeley (1864–1926), the explorer, conservationist, taxidermist, sculptor and photographer who conceived of, designed and created the hall. Akeley led teams of scientists and artists on three expeditions to Africa during the first two decades of the 20th century, wherein he and his colleagues carefully studied, catalogued, and collected the plants and animals that even then were disappearing. He brought many specimens from the expeditions back to the Museum, and used them to create the hall, with its twenty-eight dioramas.
The dioramas do not simply evoke the sites that Akeley visited—they replicate specific animals in specific geographic locations at a specific time. In creating these works, Akeley forever changed the practice of taxidermy—the stuffing and mounting of the skins of animals. Until then animal skins had been stuffed with straw or wood shavings. Akeley, however, began by re-creating the animal's shape with an armature made of wood, wire, and sometimes parts of the actual skeleton. He then used clay to add on each muscle, tendon, and vein. When this work was complete, he made a cast of it, and fit the animal's skin over the cast. This meticulous attention to veracity—which was applied not merely to the taxidermic mounts but the plants, background paintings and even the light in the dioramas—resulted in fastidiously realistic, vivid reproductions of the world that Akeley wanted to preserve.
The enormous hall showcases the vanishing wildlife of Africa, in spaces where the human presence is notably absent, and includes hyperrealistic depictions of elephants, hippopotamuses, lions, gorillas, zebras, and various species of antelope. Some of the displays are up to 18 feet (5 m) in height and 23 feet (7 m) in depth.
During Akeley's final expedition, he fell ill and died. He was buried in Albert National Park (now Virunga National Park), the first wildlife sanctuary in central Africa, which he had helped to establish. The mountain location of his grave is near the scene depicted in the gorilla diorama in this hall.

HDR Efex Pro, Nik HDR Efex Pro, Nik Software's previously-announced HDR processing plug-in for Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom and Apple Aperture is now available for Mac and PC.
Before typing a word, I have read a dozen or so reviews by both the pros and the enthusiasts, and some by DP (Digital Photographer). Prior to reading what others have said and experienced, I have watched a video from Nik Software web site www.niksoftware.com/hdrefexpro/usa/entry.php .After the usual blaah blaah about HDR and what it can do, Chief Technology Officer, Nils Kokemohr, expectantly, went on praising the software with a glow and proud expression on his Nordic pale face, his eyes beaming through a geeky pair of glasses onto the monitor which is displaying the interface of HDR Efex Pro with more than two dozen (31 actually) presets all showing an almost-look-alike thumbnails of a glowing, dramatic-cloudy skyline that would look great taking by any of today's DSLR or even point and shoot compact cameras. All looked impressive and promising. OK, let’s get with the program and become more familiar with it.
First, the good news: most of the presets are Heaven-sent for the Hyper and surreal HDR look lovers.
Second, the good news: it’s algorithm, unlike Photomatix Pro 3, engine generates a non-destructive (almost non-cooked, crisp pixels), realistic HDR look. But, nothing awe inspiring since Photoshop’s HDR Pro generates the same look. Sorry…
Third, the bad news: it’s hellishly sluggish and will require a grave-digger, laborious work in Photoshop to actually make a semi-decent looking image, that would make you better off working in Camera RAW. You may have to load your images and go grab a sandwich, a Nik Snacks (Ironically, Nik Snacks actually exists. Some [another]genious came up with 'banh mi'which is a Vietnamese sandwich and the translation of the words banh mi are literally 'salad sandwich'. I'll take a bite from that FX Pro HDR -Highly Dressed Roasted-Pork, please)or watch your favorite show while the images are being rasterized (?) and generated into HDR. Better yet, upload them overnight and come to work the following day. I know, I'm exaggerating a bit but speed is a major factor in a professional photographer(s) workflow.
The best result can be achieved with the Clean (though, some more cleaning, tweak-n-level, denoising attack will require in Photoshop) preset since I couldn’t find any slider relating to reducing noise. This lack of feature is enough to do me right here without saying one more word, but, since I have started, I will continue sharing my first encounter with Mr Nik’s new genius (no pun intended) and hoping to be wrong by discovering some great hidden treasures later-but later might never come since I’m afraid of being more disappointed and waste time as I did with FDR Tools, and I really believe in first impressions. I admit I have used a very challenging (neutral, less structured and not very HDR friendly image; ignore the images, they're not completely processed and merely to accompany the review) image but, hey, I don’t test-drive a car I’m buying in the parking lot of the dealership or the local streets. I take it on the highway and squeeze the "Dejesus" out of it.
Chromatic aberration was profound and almost non-existent. Although, this can really save time in postproduction, again, not to die for feature. Remember, we still have to deal with luminance and digital noise so not much gain here. Again, this would do me right here, right now. I’m religious about clean postproduction. I frequently, find myself zooming in 300%, cleaning pixel-by-pixel for hours and on. If you take your work seriously then good enough isn’t good at all. Nik Corp, said, “HDR is not evolving,” gesturing with his hands like Ozzy Osborne” It’s splintering. Now, photographers have a chance to take their work to more definitive level” Can you believe this guy? Ouch, nuh! Everything evolves. We evolve, mostly in sub-conscious level, every single minute…I’m evolving right now as I’m typing these words; my fingers becoming more dexterous with each key I hit; I’m learning, by the second, from my inner-subconsciously accumulated Knowledge Bank. The eye sees and the brain records without you pressing the Rec button. I digress, sorry.
Let’s get with the program (again).
More to come...mean while I recommend you download the 15 days trial and dabble with; so that we all have some insight and experince (hope you do better than I did) next time.

If you're willing to buy, that is.
Here are some first impressions and experiences from the following unhappy users:
3 Demo’s out. I gave at a few runs yesterday. Generally I’m not too impressed with ghost reduction and alignment. It’s probably best to use Photoshop or Photomatix for building the 32-bit image. I’ll try doing this then entering into HDR Efex for tonemapping and lighting. The aproach to HDR is really smart, but if your images aren’t perfectly aligned or objects are moving, I’m not sure this software alone can do the trick… yet
Fred Graff
4 I have just started doing multiple image HDR. So far I am using CS5 and the demo of NIK HDR EFX Pro. Half of my
images were taken using a tripod and half handheld. I found that CS5 did an excellent job on alignment and ghost
removal on handheld shots while NIK’s alignment and ghost removal was really poor on the handheld shots. Really
like NIK’s presets and found CS5′s almost unusable. For realistic images I preferred CS5 for a natural look and
NIK for a surrealistic look. Next I will try Photomatrix 4 as a comparison.
Craig Lewis
5 Now that HEP has been released, I think you need to post a review of it. In my (not very) humble opinion, it blows away everything else. I’ve been using Photomatix for more than five years and even am a beta tester for both Photomatix and HEP. Even without control point technology, HEP is better than the other HDR programs. Add in CP and all of the others are just taking space on my hard drive.

"When embers become eternity, his gaze ignites the void."
A hyperrealistic portrait of the Dragonlord — a being forged from scales darker than obsidian and veins pulsing with molten fire. His armor, etched with glowing runes and sealed with ancient sigils, radiates power beyond mortal comprehension. Each fiery symbol carved into his chestplate burns like a brand of dominion, marking him as the eternal conqueror of ruins and realms alike.
With horns like jagged spires and eyes blazing like volcanic cores, he is not merely a warrior — he is apocalypse incarnate, cloaked in gold and shadow. The sparks that trail from his presence are not mere embers, but fragments of worlds undone.
