Two baskets of hydrangea were placed in the sanctuary at Dublin Street United Church on Easter Sunday in memory of my wife. Mary Jo passed away on November 15, 2021 after a long struggle with Parkinson’s. Her Interment took place on Thursday, April 14, 2022.
Latin Name: Hydrangea macrophylla
This pink Mophead Hydrangea grows in our front garden. As the flower matures it becomes a paler pink.
Mopheads are the most popular hydrangeas grown in home gardens and landscapes. Most mopheads grown today are blue or pink. A few varieties are white.
The pink hydrangea has risen in popularity all over the world, but especially in Asia. Pink hydrangeas have many different meanings, but generally means, "You are the beat of my heart", as described by the celebrated Asian florist Tan Jun Yong, where he was quoted saying, "The light delicate blush of the petals reminds me of a beating heart, while the size could only match the heart of the sender!"

Certain ma maison va devenir une jungle !!!!
close-up of the flowers...
(I bought this hydrangea for my parents for Easter...I thought it would bloom like a regular hydrangea...but apparently not. The tag says it's a "lacecap hydrangea" which is named because the center looks like lace.)
With Ohara far in the north of Kyoto, Hydrangeas were surprisingly still blooming when I went to Sanzen-in the other day. The best photo opportunities, I experience again and again, are born out of luck and coincidence. Can't complain there... :)
=Japanese Art Craft=
A hydrangea is a flower which represents the Japanese early summer.
The back of the flower has a tiny bag. So in them you can put fragrance or jewelry etc...
The material is called Chirimen, a special crepe a little heavier than normal fabric used in making Kimono.
