I had looked forward to the Hydrangea flowering season but the really hot Summer shortened the normally several weeks long period. There are a few examples remaining in the shadier asections.

Hydrangea, macro,

A sunny day in june

The Florists’ Gardens are certainly among the most beautiful green areas of the Brussels region. Hosting old greenhouses from the time of Leopold II who has initiated this park, the Florist’s Gardens also offer a magnificent view on the city and are a harbor of piece close to one of the most visited attractions of Brussels, the Atomium.

The Florists’ Gardens can be reached via the Sobieski park (close to metro Stuyvenbergh).

Hydrangea flowers fading in autumn

Hydrangea

The flowers are gradually fading in the garden, but these still have a delicateness (is that even a word?)

A quick wander around the garden experimenting and using a very shallow depth of field.

Hydrangea is a genus of 70-75 species of flowering plants native to southern and eastern Asia and the Americas. By far the greatest species diversity is in eastern Asia, notably China, Japan, and Korea.

I took this photo at Vandusen Botanical garden.

Autumn hydrangea petals, in all their delightful glory...

The hydrangea walk at Abbotsbury Sub-Tropical Gardens - beautiful - and I don't even *like* hydrangeas much...

ETA Thanks everyone for the explore! My third in the space of a week, and I have no idea why but it's still nice :)

The Hydrangeas did very well this year, although in general the heads are smaller probably due to the hot summer.

Now some have been dried and form a lovely dash of colour in the room.

Hydrangea, the name, comes from the Greek words "hydro" or water, and "angeion," or vase = water vase, they prefer a lot of water.

A very ancient plant, found in fossils going back thousands of years.

Flower lovers will know that there is a flower language.

Every sentiment is expressed in one form or another by delicate blooms.

Of course, even the experts disagree on the "true meaning" of many flowers and most have different meanings to different people.

So, while all flowers convey thoughtfulness and love, a gift of flowers for a special someone will always create its own personal meaning, too.

HYDRANGEA = Thank You for Understanding.

Have a wonderful day and thank you for your comments with all my heart, M, (*_*)

Hydrangea (Armonk, New York)--June 24, 2009

Hydrangeas are one of my favourite flowers. I love not only the range and shades of colors, but also the fact that they display them all at once on one bush.

This dress will be for sale, I just need to make a nicer petticoat for the set...

The sign said Mophead Hydrangea, Hydrangea Macrophylla,

Blauer Prinz, Hydrangeaceae.

Hydrangeas growing coming into flower in my garden 30 June 2020 with iPhone SE. in monochrome!

I should have had a narrow aperture to take this so that the petals were in focus. However, I am posting it mainly for the colours.. the pink against the (not sure what to call it) ... em...brown/biscuit petals.
