Bought a colourful hydrangea on sale last year. It survived the cold spell we had in January and is now in full bloom!
I couldn't help myself.
Yesterday I was in Vancouver for an appointment with an eye specialist who I see for diabetic eye care. He gave me the best possible report regarding the state of my eyes and how well I am controlling my blood sugars. YAY!
Afterwards my sister and I went to a nursery (our favourite one). Because Vancouver nurseries are so much better than Squamish nurseries I just couldn't help myself. Let's just say my sister's SUV was quite full coming home.
Purchase photos to follow I'm sure.

Hydrangea macrophylla is a species of flowering plant in the family Hydrangeaceae, native to Japan. It is a deciduous shrub growing to 2 m (7 ft) tall by 2.5 m (8 ft) broad with large heads of pink or blue flowers in summer and autumn. Common names include bigleaf hydrangea, French hydrangea, lacecap hydrangea, mophead hydrangea, penny mac and hortensia. It is widely cultivated in many parts of the world in many climates
Even hydrangeas are poisonous! I love hydrangeas in all its stages of development and variety of colors. This is about to bust into a full bouquet. Taken right after a rainstorm.
Hydrangea or hortensia is a genus of 70–75 species of flowering plants native to southern and eastern Asia (China, Japan, Korea, the Himalayas, and Indonesia) and the Americas. By far the greatest species diversity is in eastern Asia, notably China, Japan, and Korea. Most are shrubs 1 to 3 meters tall, but some are small trees, and others lianas reaching up to 30 m (98 ft) by climbing up trees. They can be either deciduous or evergreen, though the widely cultivated temperate species are all deciduous.

Explored (June 15, 2010; #310). Thank you very much for your kind comments.
Hydrangea macrophylla. As I wrote a few days ago, I got a DSLR. I have several old MF Nikkor lenses for an analog SLR, so I chose a Nikon DSLR. This photo was taken by Ai MicroNikkor 200mm with a close-up lens. I can skip processes of film development and scanning, and also I can check the image immediately. It is so easy and nice. This flower was bloomed in my yard, and was arranged in a vase.

Hydrangea, the name, comes from the Greek words 'hydro' or water, and 'angeion' or vase = water vase, they prefer a lot of water. In French and Flemish: Hortense, Hortensia, like the female name!
A very ancient plant, found in fossils going back thousands of years.
In most species the flowers are white, but in some species (notably H. macrophylla), they are blue, red, pink, light purple, or dark purple, depending on the soil they grow in..
I wish you all the very best and thank you for all your kind words, time, comments, likes and faves. Very much appreciated.

Instructional video: Happy Folding
Paper: Unryu treated with mc
I finally got to make the hydrangea! Such an interesting fold. The paper was too soft for me to do more levels. Unryu is pretty but dfifficult for me to fold on a small scale.
