The Hydrangeas did very well this year, although in general the heads are smaller probably due to the hot summer.
Now some have been dried and form a lovely dash of colour in the room.
Hydrangea, the name, comes from the Greek words "hydro" or water, and "angeion," or vase = water vase, they prefer a lot of water.
A very ancient plant, found in fossils going back thousands of years.
Flower lovers will know that there is a flower language.
Every sentiment is expressed in one form or another by delicate blooms.
Of course, even the experts disagree on the "true meaning" of many flowers and most have different meanings to different people.
So, while all flowers convey thoughtfulness and love, a gift of flowers for a special someone will always create its own personal meaning, too.

The leaf of the hydrangea seems to have poison. It may be established in yokan and jelly at this time, but must not eat.

Also called a snowball hydrangea. I remember these plants at my great grandparents house, however they never were one of my favorites
The colours are changing fast, each morning the tones are stronger and brighter. These are the leaves from my Hydrangea shrub.

The summer-produced flower heads are composed of a row of sterile florets around the large central flower cluster. The lacecap flowers are blue in acidic soil and pink in alkaline areas. When winter temperatures drop below 10 degrees F, the bloom buds may be killed...that's okay, though, since the white edged foliage is so wonderful! Expect a 3' tall x 5' wide clump at maturity.

THE LACE-MAKER
Dentelle in French=Lace.
This bloom of Hydrangea turned into lace... skeletal... beautiful and delicate. I gently brought it in.
The flower spoke to me of essence, the spine, the veins, nerves; I thought of an Autumn bride and all things romantic.
