Feliz Quinta Flor!

Very hot outside over 30℃.

I appreciate your visit and comment.

Have a happy weekend! From the flower shop!

Many people remember hydrangea shrubs from their childhood. Today we are falling in love with them all over again. And the good news is that we can now grow many hydrangea varieties our grandmothers never even dreamed of. Some newer hydrangeas grow in colder climates, some are so small they will fit into the perennial border, and others have amazingly large blooms and deep colours.

Hydrangea is a genus of 70–75 species of flowering plants native to Asia and the Americas.

‘Hydrangea’ is derived from Greek and means ‘water vessel’, which is in reference to the shape of its seed capsules. The earlier name, Hortensia, is a Latinised version.

- I got this mini Hydrangea plant for free in severe dried-out condition from a local florist. After 4 years in my garden it is is still only 20 cm high, but flowering it does very well.

- Deze mini Hydrangea plant kreeg ik gratis van een lokale bloemist omdat hij geheel verdroogd was. Na 4 jaar in mijn tuin is hij nog nauwelijks 20 cm hoog, maar bloeien doet hij prima.

Thank you everyone so much for sharing your quality photos which is a great way to see and keep in touch with the world from home. Also for your kind comments and favours which are much valued. I am not able to take on any more members to follow or to post to groups. I prefer not to receive invites to groups

The Hydrangeas did very well this year, although in general the heads are smaller probably due to the hot summer.

Now some have been dried and form a lovely dash of colour in the room.

Hydrangea, the name, comes from the Greek words "hydro" or water, and "angeion," or vase = water vase, they prefer a lot of water.

A very ancient plant, found in fossils going back thousands of years.

Flower lovers will know that there is a flower language.

Every sentiment is expressed in one form or another by delicate blooms.

Of course, even the experts disagree on the "true meaning" of many flowers and most have different meanings to different people.

So, while all flowers convey thoughtfulness and love, a gift of flowers for a special someone will always create its own personal meaning, too.

HYDRANGEA - Thank You for Understanding.
