The American Red Cross of Massachusetts served a record 1,364 families on the Saturday before Thanksgiving, with Mike Lee, carrying box, directing the "wet bag" operation. Among the five days of emergency groceries all families get at the food pantry are bags of fresh fruits of vegetables which need to be packed as clients are picking up their food.

The information found in this report includes results from Hunger in America 2014, a nation-wide study conducted by Feeding America, the largest domestic hunger-relief charity in the United States. Additional data was provided by state and national reports on poverty and hunger. The information is used to help guide the development of programs and solutions that improve food security for individuals and their households and inform public awareness and policy development for addressing hunger in Oklahoma.

California University of Pennsylvania’s Volunteer Programs and Service Learning office (VPSL) and the Cal U Cupboard hosted a Rise Against Hunger packaging event in the Natali Student Center, Nov. 17, 2021. More than 60 students from various campus organizations volunteered to package 10,000 meals provided by Rise Against Hunger, a nonprofit organization that has a goal of bringing food sustainability to regions throughout the world.
