A true fresco -- painted directly onto wet plaster -- Hunger March looks like a collage of newspaper photos featuring black and white Americans sleeping on floors, marching, and being beaten by police during Depression-era protests. The artist, Lewis Rubenstein, had recently graduated from Harvard, He painted it on a wall of the very museum it's displayed in, Harvard's Fogg Museum. The Fogg was recently rebuilt and reconfigured as the Harvard Art Museums. During construction the fresco's wall was taken down and then re-installed.
