Description: A famous horse called Bess visits the Jefferson City Daily Capital News office on a tour of the country. The horse (actually a gelding male) played a mare "Bess" in the 1946 MGM film "Gallant Bess." Bess was trained by Joe Atkinson. Here, the horse "signs" an autograph with a pencil in his mouth.
