Ruby Throated Hummingbirds enjoying our feeder.

One of the little warriors in my backyard who fight over a place at the feeder.

This hummingbird kept humming around me at a cosmic speed and I tried to follow it with my camera without success. Eventually patience paid off and I got a few shots by focusing on a spot and waiting until it flew into that spot. But next time I have to catch it with a faster shutter speed. This could be the fastest blurred action at 1/640s - this is probably when I have to use 1/3000s...

More hummingbird pictures. I am running out of ways to compose these to make them look different, so I am not sure how many more will get posted.

A hummingbird in front of a red shirt I hung up hoping I could get one in front of it. (It's the shirt the frog is on in prior upload).

first time shooting hummingbirds

"An adult Hummingbird is 10cm long and weighs 5.2 g. They are known for their ability to hover in mid-air by rapidly flapping their wings 15 to 80 times per second (depending on the size of the bird). Unlike other bird species capable of limited hovering, the hummingbird is alone in its ability to fly deliberately backwards or vertically, and to maintain position for drinking from flower blossoms. They are named for the characteristic hum made by their wings."

Murfreesboro Tn Hummingbird

After being frustrated about seeing an Osprey smacking the water in front of me, then flying off before I could get a clear shot of it, this Hummer landed right in front of me. Taking a one handed shot (the other hand was holding a monopod lead to a fairly blurred image. Working with Focus magic, Fixed some of it. Had a pretty good two hours of photographing

Having my lunch and was happy to see this little one taking a break on the feeder long enough that I could get some pictures!
