Origin of phrase Curate's egg: The bishop says "I'm afraid you've got a bad egg, Mr Jones". Apparently trying to avoid offence or curry favor, the curate replies, "Oh, no, my Lord, I assure you that parts of it are excellent!"

The best cure from urban life is to go to a place where such things as regular supply of electricity, water, and telecommunications are not something you can count on. When a storm is coming, to preserve the appliances, electricity is cut in this village. Then the water pump stops working...and the telephone... and the internet connection.... So this long introduction to say a small thank you to sacrosanct electricity, Tesla, nature and all those inventors who did not receive the Nobel prize and are making our lives more comfortable...

The early 15c south door "humility" entrance, believed to probably be the finest carved door in the county. It has Tudor roses, crockets and rich canopies. The Knowles shield is set between the emblems of St Luke and St John.
The South door is perpendicular and is probably the finest carved door in the county and one of the best in the whole country. It has tudor roses, crockets and rich canopies. The wicket is traceried and has signs of St Luke and St John. There are niches running from the sill of the door with mutilated figures of Saints and the Four Doctors of the Church (Gregory, Jerome, Ambrose, & Augustine). There is a lion at the bottom of the door and a stag at the East side.

Where HUMILITY is lacking, pride rules. We ought to imitate Jesus' humility. The heart of a servant is what makes a difference. Lest we forget that Jesus, Himself, came to serve and not to be served. Jesus, Himself, considered it not to equate Himself with God
