Humiliation of a Pious Man
In the tenth year of the Trojan War, Agamemnon captured Chryseis, daughter of Chryses, a priest of Apollo, and intended to keep the girl as a prize, take her home, and turn her into both a slave and a concubine. Chryses, a loving father if compared to the king, came then to see Agamemnon and, having blessed the whole army, offered a generous ransom for her daughter's freedom. The troops applauded the priest, but Agamemnon was not a man inclined to let his will be curbed. So he denied Chryses' request and, in an arrogant display of authority, threatened the old man, who left the Achaean camp humiliated.
Apollo's Wrath
The best time to address the gods is when humans refuse to listen, so Chryses prayed to Apollo as soon as he found himself alone. He asked the god to let the Achaeans pay through his golden arrows the tears he was shedding. That is why Apollo, who otherwise is known as the bright one, on hearing the prayer and learning the outrage his priest had suffered, came down from Olympus, as they say, darker than night, letting his arrows rain on the Achaean camp, which means that an epidemic spread in the army, taking many lives.
Sorry for the tiny size, but these were dancers from the Universoul Circus performing in front of City Hall today, where I was innocently attempting to have lunch. They dragged me on stage and humiliated me by making me dance (sober!) in front of the crowd to a 70s song I didn't know. I got free tickets though!

After the pain and humiliation of falling for 1 Brimstone butterfly I had an unbelievable experience the other day when walking to the Mere along the back of the zoo when i I encountered no fewer than 8 Brimstone in quick succession. The pursuit of a photo ended up taking an hour and because of the warm weather none were prepared to give me the open wing shot.

Ok, so this is how I'm feeling today. I haven't checked in for days because of a recent humiliating and horrible thing that has happened to our family. I won't say more but lets just say last week was a bad week.
On the positive side, well, I guess I'm thankful that things are going pretty well with Tanner, I adore my husband and we are best friends and in spite of the deep and difficult places of being a family and a mom, I adore my children. I'm 53 pounds thinner, I'm strong and healthy, my hair is grown out and I have many gifts and talents. So in spite of it all I am a person who can see the blessings and I appreciate them so much.
And as I always say concerning the challenges.... This too shall pass!
Today Paul and I took a really good walk and gave it a lot of energy, we enjoyed it and are glad we did. Tomorrow I'll be back at the pool. We also got the call that our new lodge pole bed is ready, not sure when we can get away to pick it up though. (It's in another town and will take a few hours out of the day to get it.) I'm thinking about setting my easel and pastels up so I can do some art in my studio even if it's just in short bursts. Also, I've started the embroidery on my second pair of jeans, I think it's going to look really cool.
I'm sorry that I've not responded to comments for a while, I hope I can do that this week but I'm not sure.
A church and monastery were founded here around 1350 by the Umiliati (Humiliated) order and initially dedicated to Saint Christopher, the patron saint of the gondoliers. Tiberio da Parma, the leader of the Order, and said to have been responsible for the original design of the church, is buried here. During the building of this church an unfinished statue of the Madonna, made by Giovanni de Santis (but also said to have fallen from heaven) and kept in an orchard (orto) nearby following its rejection by the Prior of Santa Maria Formosa, for which church it had been carved, started getting a reputation for glowing and working miracles. The church bought the statue, with the intention of thereby increasing offerings towards the cost of the building work, and on 18th June 1377 it was placed on the high altar. Humiliation comes in many forms...such as ornaments on my mommy's Christmas tree.

when i am really sick, i try to see if i'll be able to shower before i disrobe so to speak. this day-day 18/365, absolutely no way. after just sliding down the wall and at times trying to pull myself up and failing, miserably, i called for my mom and had her bring my laptop. i wanted to show this (thanks to macbook's photobooth!) process with all the humiliation it entails. it is very difficult to show these--so please be kind. xxx

How torture is torture and humiliation is humiliation only when you choose to suffer.
"Savior" isn't the right word, but it's the first word that comes to mind.
And it's funny how when somebody saves you, the first thing you want to do is save other people. All other people.

The American journalist+broadcaster William Shirer was not supposed to be at the site of the Armistice at all, all other foreign journalists had been sent back to Berlin. Shirer had the help of a German unsympathetic to Hitler to get to the site and to witness the proceedings. He went on to outwit the Germans who permitted him to make a recorded radio broadcast of the Armistice terms, that they insisted would be played only after the Germans had made their own broadcast. In a spectacular scoop he managed to get a live link to CBS while he was in the studio waiting to make the recording, persuaded the engineer present that he had permission to do this, and broadcast the news a full six hours ahead of the Germans.

My son's girlfriend adopted the ugliest dog she could find at the local animal shelter… and then she moved into an apartment where she couldn’t have pets. So… I was under the impression that “Shiloh” would be staying with us only until my son could find another home for him. I guess he found a home… he’s been with us for more than a year!
Shiloh is a miniature poodle-mutt of sorts. He is an older dog that had not been neutered (until his adoption), and so he had developed some bad habits, such as “marking” everywhere… in the house. It's not a "bladder control" potty-training issue, but rather a possessive, territorial, Napoleon-complex-thing ("THIS is mine... and THIS is mine... and THIS is mine..." and so on). This situation has necessitated for him to be “diapered” while inside. So, this little tiny scruffy dog wears a “diaper” (usually a tube sock tied around his waist with a lady’s maxi-pad strategically placed to absorb fluids) while in the house.
Shiloh is sort of a “fugly” dog to begin with… add to this a really bad haircut and a “diaper”, and he is truly a pathetic sight.
Interestingly, Shiloh doesn't seem to be humiliated, depressed, or even bothered by his "feminine" impediment! He's completely oblivious! And it works great!
Instead of a poodle, I call him a “piddle” (because he pees)… or most often “Mr. Piddle-Poo”. Despite his bad habit, Shiloh is a sweet, good-natured little lap-dog that has added messy joy to our lives… And he's truly SO MUCH cuter with a proper haircut!
