I was trying to get some faux-smoke/fog in the picture. That didn't work. Still, pretty psychedelic.

I wanted to do a bit of electronics work in my office during the heat

of the day. I tried dumping ice cubes and water into a $2 humidifier.

It didn't seem to make much difference. Just keeping the doors open

and a fan on helps the most.

Regalito sorpresa... :o)

Today I spent with my sister and daughter thrifting in Ann Arbor and then walking all over hell at the Street Art Fairs. Of course my favorite part was thrifting followed by eating good food followed by looking at all of the pretty artwork.

I am a humidifier junkie. Vintage humidifiers that is. The new ones never last (I've owned several) and always require expensive filters. The old units work and and work and work. I filled this with water and within seven seconds it was pumping out a fine cool mist.

I set up my 20 gallon tank for the winter and brought in most of my nepenthes. Yes, I do have highlands and lowlands mixed in here. It's been working. This is my winter set up and will not stay this way once things get back to normal. During Florida winter some of the highlands can be outside, but all my lowlands need to come in. But since it's been getting in the 40's and 30's even the highlands needed to come in.

Here's the tank after I turn on the humidifier for a few minutes. It's in the 70's during the day and at night with the mist drops into the 60's. The humidity is reading 71% and rising. I only run it for a few minutes and the humidity stays high for a few hours.

Take care of your tools, kids. Learn from my mistakes and leave the humidifier, the humidifier riiiight next to all the steel tools, alone.

At least I discovered the set can look like minions to whatever they may be near.

Another one of those "not as cool as I wanted" but I just ran out of patience. I bought this humidifier for the girls last week, when they both started getting a nasty cold. There were choices of the duck, elephant, or a panda. Lilly chose the duck. We put it in their room. And she proceeded to tell me the next night that it was scary and she didn't want to sleep with it.

Honestly, I kind of can't blame her. But it's in our bedroom now, since that's where they end up eventually anyway. And somehow it's not creepy when we're there.
