Ben Boyd National Park- Twofold Bay - NSW South Coast.

Boyds Tower, originally designed as a lighthouse by Benjamin Boyd, was built in 1847.

"From this lookout, whalers would wait and keenly watch for the telltale spout as a whale surfaced to breathe. The hunt would often be underway before a whale was seen by human eyes. Killer Whales (Orcas) would harass the whale towards the shallower waters of Twofold Bay. The Killers would then alert the human whalers to the presence of the whales with tail flops and leaps that could be seen and heard over long distances.

In this rare example of wild animals co-operating with humans for mutual benefit, the killers were rewarded with a feast of the whale’s tongue before the whalers towed the animal to shore. This was known as the “Law of the Tongue”."

A bunch of pigeons, something tells me they’re looking for humans “to bomb”

Mongkok Subway Station, Hong Kong, August 2007

The surf beach is behind the city 'scrappers. The Nerang River

and man made canals are lined by wealthy home owners with their own little beach, pier and boat. Bull sharks live in the canals and enjoy the taste of humans - when some are silly enough to disbelieve this fact!

In 1984, Robert Doisneau participated in the DATAR Photographic Mission, photographing the Fosse aux Prêtres residence in Palaiseau (Essonne). This color work was part of his exploration of the suburbs, contrasting with his black and white photographs of the 1940s and marking a break with the sparse human presence. The DATAR Mission (1984-1988) aimed to represent the French landscape of the 1980s. Doisneau used medium-format color cameras, moving away from human portraiture to focus on architecture and urban planning. These photos show a more stark suburb, a stark contrast to his post-war work.

The many lines of life

Zürich, Switzerland

Leica M6, Ilford HP5+

My photo for today is from our excursion to Ft. Ticonderoga, New York. For you history buffs, three countries-three wars-one fort. It stands above Lake Champlaign with a direct trade route to Canada.

Anyway, enough of that. :-) It was reenactment day and as I looked to my left I saw this perfect human still life set up. I snapped a picture with the lens I happened to have on (lensbaby-no surprise). They almost immediately dispersed when they saw me taking their picture.

The stone on the left in this stone circle at Machrie Moor looked unsettlingly human, I thought

The Isle of Arran
