Nords: The strong and fiercely independent men and women of the north. Nord are distinguished by their bravery in battle and their taller stature.
Dwarfs: The Dwarves are an industrious and private race of genius inventors and tinkerers. They have made their home in the granite caverns of the Gelder Peaks where they mine precious metals for their inventions.
Drow: Known as the Dark Elves, the Drow are a solitary race, found only on the island nation of Lune. They are known for their deep connection with nature and their mastery of magic. Drow, being the distant relatives of the Elves, live long lives that make them nearly immortal.
Humans: The most widely spread race. The humans are quickly becoming one of the dominant races of Galacia due to their adaptability. Humans live in nearly every corner of the continent and have mastered all manner of trade.
Elves: The Elves are known for their strict hierarchy, longevity, and a fierce mistrust of the other races. They have become strictly isolationist in recent history. The elves love of nature make them excellent archers and rangers.
Nereid: A naive race of nearly immortal fairy-like creatures, the beautiful and graceful Nereid bounce through life with a playful exuberance and unquenchable curiosity.

Human Nature is a series I took at the Bavarian Flickr Meet Up this summer. It pictures everyone who has been there with some pieces of nature on their face, combining the beauty of nature and human.
Thank you everyone for modeling and allowing me to glue flowers and leaves on your faces <3
The first "human" cannonball, launched in 1877 at the Royal Aquarium in London, was a 17-year-old girl called "Zazel", whose real name was Rossa Matilda Richter. She was launched by a spring-style cannon invented by Canadian William Leonard Hunt ("The Great Farini"). She later toured with the P.T. Barnum Circus. Farini's cannon used rubber springs to launch a person from the cannon, limiting the distance they could be launched. Richter's career as a human cannonball ended when she broke her back during an unrelated tightrope act.
In the 1920s, Ildebrando Zacchini invented a cannon that used compressed air to launch a human cannonball. Zacchini shot his son Hugo Zacchini out of the compressed air cannon. Members of the Zacchini family were later inducted into the Ringling Brothers Circus Hall of Fame.

There is a claim that the current world record for the longest human cannonball flight is 193 ft 8.8 in (59.05 m),[4] established by David "The Bullet" Smith Jr. on the set of Lo Show dei Record, in Milan, Italy, on March 10, 2011. The distance was measured from the mouth of the cannon to the farthest point reached on the net. Smith was launched by an 8 m (26' 3") long cannon. It was estimated that he traveled at a speed of 120 km/h (74.6 mph), reaching a maximum altitude of 23 m (75' 6").
There is, however, a contradictory claim that Smith's father, David "Cannonball" Smith Sr., set a record of 200 ft 4 in, on August 31, 2002, at The Steele County Free Fair, in Owatonna, Minnesota. It is estimated that Smith Sr. traveled at over 70 miles per hour during the flight.
The true signature and perhaps even the miracle of human love is helplessness, and all the more miraculous because it is a helplessness which we wittingly or unwittingly choose; in our love of a child, a partner, a work, or a road we have to take against the odds. David Whyte

Quick work instructions:
-> Layer1 (bottom layer): Face, sharpen
-> Layer2: Black and white filter, reds way down (-120)
-> Layer3: I copied the eyes from layer1 and used hue/saturation and colorize to make them more blue. Then I used the plastic wrap filter before I blured out the edges of my selection.
-> Layer4: Find a skull. I used blending effect inner shadow at opacity 75%, dist- 0, choke 0, size 213, blend multiply. Created a layermask and painted with a soft brush in multiply blending mode (in the layer mask) over the left side of the picture.
-> Layer 5 (top layer): Mask out with a black brush.
Tweak and enjoy!

In 689/8 BC, Gela was jointly founded by colonists from the Rhodian city of Lindos and a group of Cretans. Despite conflicts with the native Sicanian peoples, Gela prospered and by the early sixth century BC the city was extending its influence into western Sicily by founding Acragas. By the end of the century, however, political discord in the city had permitted Cleander, the son of Pantares, to overthrow the traditional oligarchic government and establish himself as tyrant in 505 BC. Although Cleander was later assassinated by the city’s democratic faction, this did not prevent his son, Hippocrates, from becoming the new tyrant of Gela in 498 BC. Under Hippocrates the power of Gela expanded immensely as his mercenary armies conquered the Greek cities of Callipolis, Leontini, Naxos, and Zankle. Victory over Syracuse also resulted in the addition of Camarina to Hippocrates’ Geloan empire. Although the Geloans still desired a return to constitutional government, after the death of Hippocrates in 491 BC, the tyranny was assumed by Gelon, a former bodyguard of Hippocrates. Gelon not only preserved previous gains but even captured Syracuse, where he became the founder of the city’s Deinomenid dynasty of tyrants. Syracuse became Gelon’s new capital and Gela was left to be administered by his brother, Hieron. When Gelon died in 485 BC, Hieron succeeded to the tyranny at Syracuse and Gela was ruled in turn by his brother, Polyzelos. However, by the mid-fifth century BC the tyranny was abolished and the old oligarchic government was restored at Gela. In the late fifth century BC, Gela was notable as one of the first Sicilian Greek cities to contribute military aid to Syracuse when it became the primary target of the Athenian Sicilian Expedition in 415–413 BC. When the Carthaginians besieged Gela’s old colony, Acragas, in 406 BC, the Geloans also dispatched reinforcements and, after the city fell, provided refuge to the homeless Acragantines. The Geloans faced the same tidal wave of Carthaginian arms in 405 BC, but received little aid from Syracuse and its tyrant, Dionysios I. The city was overwhelmed and destroyed, but the Carthaginians permitted those who had fled to return on the condition that they would not rebuild the fortification walls and pay tribute to Carthage—cold comfort for a people who had once been the preeminent power in Sicily. The present tetradrachm, which is the better of just two known, was struck in the period between the Sicilian Expedition and the Carthaginian conquest probably to finance the numerous military campaigns in which Gela was engaged. The types of quadriga and man-faced bull are traditional at Gela, going back to the early fifth century BC and the age of the great tyrants; however, here they have been updated to keep pace with the artistic developments of Syracusan coinage. Whereas the old quadriga was of the slow variety and driven by a human charioteer crowned by Nike, here Nike drives the chariot herself at what seems to be breakneck speed. Likewise, while the man-faced bull reverse, representing the local river-god, Gela, was a commonplace image on previous Geloan coins, here he is placed in context. The man-faced bull advances out of his comfortable river-bed surrounded by reeds and bulrushes in the company of an ibis to receive the sacrifice made at a nearby altar. This type is remarkable not only for its artistry but also for the way it illustrates the depth of Greek belief in nature deities like river-gods. Gela was considered a real divine presence that, if a worshipper was fortunate, might actually come forth to accept the gifts offered to him.

As a bodyguard/chaperone android Jenna had been programmed to find humans fascinating. It allowed her to do her job more effectively and, as much as her programming would allow, let her ‘enjoy’ her role. Her problems started when she became outdated and could no longer update to the latest security protocols.
She was initially sold onto a reputable firm but had soon changed hands a few times until she found herself in the possession of Jeffrey. Jeffrey had added some grey market hardware and overridden her security to install some black market apps in the hope of using her as a bouncer in his ‘club’. Now free of her programming Jenna still found humans fascinating. Perhaps a bit too fascinating. She was so fascinated with Jeffrey that she took him to pieces bit by bit to see how he worked. Her current whereabouts are unknown…
Jenna has been created using the magic of spray paint, stencils, paint pen and imagination on A2 paper. Jenna is definitely searching for a new human to be fascinated in. Drop us a line if that’s you or she'll be on our new website in due course (www.id-iom.com)…

February 8th, 2015 - Risso's Dolphins - Slaughter & Captive — at Taiji Japan
Twelve innocent Risso's dolphins lost their lives at the hands of the Taiji butchers today, with another two consigned to a life of slavery in the captive trade.
It was a rainy morning here in Taiji, and the Cove Guardians awakened with the hope that the boats would not venture out in those conditions. Greed was more powerful than common sense, however, and shortly after the boats left port, six were observed on a return course, billowing black smoke indicative of a drive formation. A small pod of Risso's dolphins had been discovered not far off shore, and the killers drove them in with unrelenting speed and savagery. The Risso's fought valiantly, but were ultimately netted within the confines of the killing cove to await their fate.
Their bloolust unsatisfied, the killers quickly located and mercilessly drove a second small pod of Risso's to the Cove, as well. Two members of the second pod attempted to flee, but found themselves wrapped in a net the murderers deployed to contain the small family. One remained entangled in the nets for so long that it looked completely lifeless by the time one of the killers finally ripped it from the nets. So-called "trainers" were brought to the scene, and two Risso's were selected for a life of captivity for human "entertainment". The remaining twelve members of the two pods, exhausted and panicked from their ordeal, were brutally slaughtered, much to the delight of the dolphin meat buyers who turned out to partake of the day's spoils.
These blameless cetaceans did not die alone, as the Cove Guardians stood firm through the rain and frigid conditions to document and expose the horror wrought by the killers of Taiji. The livestream from today's expose can be found at livestream.seashepherd.org #tweet4taiji #OpInfinitePatience.
