Humankind has not woven the web of life. We are but one thread within it. Whatever we do to the web, we do to ourselves. All things are bound together. All things connect. - Chief Sealth (Seattle)

Humankind's trash is a Minifig's treasure. The Minifigs of Trash Town are an exceptionally resourceful bunch!

Small thing for humankind, but once again a bigger thing for me. One promotional video I made for my friend in a gallery window at downtown Helsinki. There was also one installation in the exhibiton for which I had had done the video parts.

Armadillo emerging from its den. How is it possible for anyone to live on the Earth without loving every living thing? But humankind isn't inclined to love anything. Humankind has spent the last 10,000 years at war with everything and it is very likely that humans behaved just as terribly during pre-historic times.

The catastrophe occurring in the Gulf of Mexico mirrors the catastrophes occurring in the Niger delta, the Amazon Rain Forest, the Canadian oilsands, and the oil rich countries of the Middle East. For the sake of oil and profits the oil industry has left a long trail of blood and pollution.

When does it end, humankind?

How bad do things have to become on the Earth before humankind wakes up from its drug induced frenzy?

How many billions of humans have to die, how many ecosystems have to be lost, how many cities surrendered to rising sea levels, how many more wars?

I object to the manner in which humankind has chosen to live. I object to human nature, the scourge of the cosmos.

Technological civilization promised so many benefits and has delivered so many horrors. The sad thing about technological civilization is that humankind cannot live either with or without it. Too bad for humankind ... technological ciivlization will end in the 21st century.

We're living in the Worst Case Scenario. We're living in the Apocalypse. We're living at the end of time. We're living in the Sixth Great Extinction.

All of these things are just beginning now. Things are going to become a whole lot worse in the years ahead.

The Western advances in Science has provided affluence but not happiness for in order to obtain affluence humankind has to connect with the rest of humankind which is the same as connecting with Allah.

The heroic but ephemeral edifices of humankind and the enduring power and grandeur of nature are evocatively expressed in this work by the landscape painter Jacob van Ruisdael. A shepherd and his flock are dwarfed by the ruins of a castle, a massive hill in the background, and dark, swollen clouds gathering overhead. Ruisdael’s skillful use of color also enhances the painting’s poetic effect. Other than the glowing terra-cotta of the ruins and the restrained use of creamy whites, his palette consists mostly of the greens and browns of nature. There is only one small point of bright color in the entire painting: the shepherd’s red jacket. Although the artist’s choice of ruins as his subject followed an established pictorial tradition in the Netherlands, he was not concerned with topographical accuracy; indeed, the prominent hill behind the structure was a product of his imagination. The castle, once the seat of the Counts of Egmond, had powerful associations. It was destroyed at the command of the Prince of Orange to prevent the Spanish Army from occupying it during the Dutch struggle for independence from Spanish rule in the late sixteenth century.

The Bahá'í Faith is a monotheistic religion emphasizing the spiritual unity of all humankind. Three core principles establish a basis for Bahá'í teachings and doctrine: the unity of God, that there is only one God who is the source of all creation; the unity of religion, that all major religions have the same spiritual source and come from the same God; and the unity of humanity, that all humans have been created equal, and that diversity of race and culture are seen as worthy of appreciation and acceptance. According to the Bahá'í teachings the human purpose is to learn to know and love God through such methods as prayer, reflection, and being of service to humanity.

The Bahá'í Faith was founded by Bahá'u'lláh in 19th-century Persia. Bahá'u'lláh was exiled for his teachings, from Persia to the Ottoman Empire, and died while officially being a prisoner. After Bahá'u'lláh's death, under the leadership of his son, `Abdu'l-Bahá, the religion spread from its Persian and Ottoman roots, and gained a footing in Europe and America, and was consolidated in Iran, where it suffers intense persecution. After the death of `Abdu'l-Bahá, the leadership of the Bahá'í community entered a new phase, evolving from a single individual to an administrative order with both elected bodies and appointed individuals. There are more than 5 million Bahá'ís around the world in more than 200 countries and territories.
