There are times when we run away from something; there are times when we run toward something. But also, there exist rare events when both motives happen for our running.

Every week, I try to visit and explore the Spring Hammock Preserve, only a few miles from home. Most trails and boardwalks have been abandoned and not taken care of, but I always return because the place is fantastic. Here I am looking at "Question Pond" on Osprey Trail. I hardly have any questions; that's my personality, but I love it when others throw questions at me. So, I threw my last one into this sulfur spring to forget about them.

The Steintor U-Bahn station in Hanover features a distinctive architectural design created by the Milanese designer Alessandro Mendini in 1997. This station is known for its bold black and yellow checkerboard pattern, which creates a striking visual impact. Mendini's design consists of two narrow, identical structures facing each other, with a passage opening in the middle. The roofs are topped with yellow pointed hats, further adding to the unique appearance of the station (Source: regiopia.de + + + regiopia.com).

(took this shot on my iphone. had no idea the person on the top was smiling until I posted this to flickr :))
in front of the congreso de los diputados in madrid. order and power carved in stone. yet life moves between the lines. a woman with an umbrella, alone in the rain. moments of humanity breaking through the rigid geometry of the facade. flat light, deep shadows. a fleeting moment that disrupts perfection but somehow completes it.

in a moment of stillness amidst an architectural marvel, a solitary figure walks under the vast, elliptical opening of the structure, dwarfed by its scale. the interplay of shadows and reflections creates a dramatic pattern across the curved facade, where lines intersect in a dance of light and geometry. the minimalistic composition and high contrast in black and white elevate the scene to a visual symphony, capturing a fleeting moment in a space that feels both immense and intimate. it's a study of scale, solitude, and the silent dialogue between human and architecture.
