The very short bill confuses me.

Photo taken near Deary, Idaho, State while on a camping trip in the area.

There's a lot not to like in this image - the blown out lights (although they were so intense, I don't know how I could have prevented that), light smears around the lights themselves, and even the snow swirling through the air. On the other side of the coin, I like the composition of the Skylon Tower relative to the light beams, the bright colors, and the snow, which makes it a bit different. That being said, I'm still humming and hawing about it.

Sticking with the iron trellis as a perch theme, this female Ruby Throated was guarding a feeder from this plant trellis perch. Taken at Big Bloomers Flower Farm in Sanford,NC

Yep, they have left and the weather is a little colder in the mornings now.

Good morning everyone. Just a single pic of Ruby-throated Hummingbird (Archilochus colubris), of which I'm pretty sure is a juvenile, although I'm not sure if it's a female or male. My guess is a young male.

Thank you for stopping by...and I hope you have a truly ncie first day of November.

PS...sorry to say it'll be another post & run day for yours truly after a couple hours here on flickr. So please bear with my lack of response to comments and/or visits for one more day. Thank you.

not sure what kind of hummer this is, as I only get the ruby throated here - I liked this with the little bees humming around!

Got Lucky...then they peeled of into a dog fight.

In the large size, you'll see the eyelid is closed (eye is in front of the white spot) - the hummer blinked, it was not sleeping.

The Flames deserve a hummer after their performance last night. I don't think I'll ever forget that hockey game for as long as I live. I only wish I thought to bring the tripod to catch this beauty, (not sure what he's called?) Happy May! ! My last one for awhile.

Finally caught the little lady early this morning. Forgive the "bokeh" ball and pretend it is a hummingbird sized moon :>)

Well, my new (used) computer is finally up and running. The only thing that doesn't work so good is the cd rom, but so far it has allowed me to load all the software I need.

Last of the hummers! At CBG. This one was on my way out of the gardens, right on the other side of the English walled gardens. A wonderful treat!

Try to catch up with everyone today. (A monumental task! hehe)

The flowers in this picture were taken prepandemic and the Humming Bird was provided by Aarn Giri, I thank him for his generosity.

As it warms up more and more hummers are starting to show up. I do not put feeders out for them but I have lots of native shrubs and trees and flowers that are starting bloom and the hummers are ready and waiting. I had a very cool experience with one of them the other day while I was watering some seedling trees I planted. I was holding the sprayer up with a showery misting spray and a hummer came in and was flying in and out of the spray, darting in and out at first and then just hovering directly in the spray. The first time it happened I thought wow that was cool, bet that won't happen again until it did 2 more times so far. I am currently trying to get some video of my showering hummer.

Female ruby-throated hummingbird. More often than not I'm not advantaged sufficiently to zero in on one sitting still; but this time was the exception!

Arnie would be proud. Eventually appeared in my brickfilm Driven: youtube.com/watch?v=mU1Qokcip3I
