This is the first time I was able to capture a photo of a humming bird. I'm so proud of myself! Funny thing, humming birds look a lot like squirrels.

Photo taken near Deary, Idaho while camping about 20 miles from this sight.

Benjamin Britten, a newt in a jam jar, Henry David Thoreau, and walking like a camel. This is the stuff I think about.

Tongue sticking out in anticipation!

Thanks for your visit, have a nice day!

Anna's Hummingbird headed to the Lavender in the garden. Soo hard to capture these fast guys in flight...but FUN to try :-)

Photo taken last spring near Deary, Idaho while camping about 20 miles away.

So happy to see hummers back at my feeders.

Another 'lucky... was in the right place at the right time' shot. I was standing right by the hummingbird feeder on the first day of September last year, taking pics of the yellow jackets and bees drinking the sugar water nectar from it, when all of a sudden this hummingbird flew up to it, right in front of me.

I WAS SOOO EXCITED!!! I squelched down the excitement *just enough* to click away like crazy.

Most of the shots weren't any good, a couple were 'OK', and then there was this one. I cried when I

saw it.

I wasn't sure when I was going to post this, and then I just decided that this was the shot I wanted to start the new year with.

I loved this one's beak.

A Humming Bird showing off it's wings for me on a small twig. What a colorful bird.

I just love these little birds and I spent all day trying to capture a decent photo of one. I took over 300 shots, not all of hummingbirds, but a large portion of them were. I had a problem with the exposure, because against the sky, all I got was a silhouette. I finally figured out I needed to use the flash......viola....that worked like a charm!!

Here are 3 I wanted to share with you.....just be thankful I didn't bore you with ALL of them!! lol

My sister set up the hummingbird feeder today. I tend to procrastinate about almost everything and it never went up, at all, last summer.

There has been some interest and territorial squabbles already. Just as it was getting dark I caught this wee girl. I assume she's a she due to her colour or, I should say, lack of colour.

Now I have a photography goal. ASAP snap a really great hummer shot.

Another shot from the North Rim. Only a record shot as I'd never seen a humming bird before . . that's my excuse & I'm sticking to it!!!!

He could have smiled a bit more, but at least he combed his hair. :-)

Summer without a hummer?

Photo taken near Deary, Idaho, State while on a camping trip in the area.

There's a lot not to like in this image - the blown out lights (although they were so intense, I don't know how I could have prevented that), light smears around the lights themselves, and even the snow swirling through the air. On the other side of the coin, I like the composition of the Skylon Tower relative to the light beams, the bright colors, and the snow, which makes it a bit different. That being said, I'm still humming and hawing about it.

Sticking with the iron trellis as a perch theme, this female Ruby Throated was guarding a feeder from this plant trellis perch. Taken at Big Bloomers Flower Farm in Sanford,NC
