Coombe Pool Coventry.

A swan was on its nest, a woodpecker resonated, reed birds flitted, an alarmed pheasant strode away and ducks sailed off for breakfast.

Caïre (or cayre) means in local language a rocky summit. The Caïres dominate the valley where the sanctuary of the Madone de Fenestre is located. This sanctuary has been established since the Middle Ages (year 887) and was the refuge for those who wanted to pass from the county of Nice (depending on the Savoie county) to the Italian Piemont by the pass of Fenestre (2474 m), on which path the photo was taken.

During World War II, the pass served as an exile route for Jewish people from the city of Nice fleeing the Nazi persecution (650 personnes from the 9 of sept. 1943). Unfortunately, many of them were interned in an Italian concentration camp (Borgo San Dalmazzo) and next deported to the Auschwitz camp (Poland) from which they never came back (350 people).

J.M.G. Le Clézio, Nobel Price of literature, wrote a novel about this sad story of Jewish people of Saint-Martin-Vésubie : "Wandering Star", Willimantic: Curbstone Press, 2004.

Kronshtadt, Russia. A 7-photo 3-row panorama produced by Hugin. File conversion and general processing done in Darktable, final edits are applied in GIMP.

Кронштадт, Россия. Панорама из 7 фотографий в три ряда. Собрана в Hugin, конвертация файлов и общая обработка выполнена в Darktable, окончатльная обработка - в GIMP.

A 14 photo stitch using Hugin. Photos on my old Lumix TZ-1 (I think that is the correct model). A little enhancement in Pixelmator Pro. There were, in fact, 21 photos (3 rows of 7) but I cut out the middle row to see if it was needed. Verdict: not really except for some blending issues.

This raven was sitting on our boathouse.

First time back in Hong Kong after some 20 years. I had never checked out the skyline until now. What a beautiful night it was. This one is a huge 6 piece stitched panorama. Enjoy.

You can see shadows of people on the left. Just so many people up on the scenic point. I was here some 20 years ago, hardly anyone was here.

Hugin (thought) is one of Odin's two ravens. At day he flies over Åsgard and Midgard. At night he sits on Odin's shoulder and whispers in his ear what he has seen.

Large is much better or even larger (2.8mb 5000pixels)

We were fortunate enough to be able to visit Barrenjoey Lighthouse this weekend just gone and I just couldn't resist the opportunity to make a 360 degree panorama.

This was made up from 19 photos shot in portrait handheld while walking around the outside of the lighthouse.

Stitching was a nightmare as my first attempt had some big misalignments... and each mistake takes another couple of hours to stitch and blend, fortunately I managed to get it all working reasonably well on my second go, only one minor misalignment (I'm not including the waves) that shouldn't be visible at this lower resolution.

Full sized image is 17514 pixels wide.

Expect to see some more photos from this weekend in the days to come when I get around to sorting through them all.

Back here again. Still not bored.

Rabenkrähe auf Ast

just an experiment to check if i really found the nodal-point (..and no, i didn't how you can see ) :)

i hope you enjoy it anyway.

On display at Pegwell Bay is this replica of a Viking longship 'Hugin' which sailed from Denmark to Thanet in 1949, a gift from the Danish government to commemorate the 1500th anniversary of the Anglo-Saxon invasion of Britain in nearby Ebbsfleet.

Distorsions introduced by the kit 18-55 mm lens were corrected in Hugin, after whichsthe stack was aligned and an HDR image was exported and further processed in Darktable.

Чтобы скорректировать дисторсию китового объектива 18-55 мм, выровнять стопку и создать HDR, я использовал Hugin. Созданный HDR был экспортирован в Darktable, где и присходила окончательная обработка.

Low lying cloud covers the top of the cliffs overlooking the Geiranger Fjord.

In Norse mythology Hugin (thought) and Munin (memory) are Odin's two ravens. At day they fly over Åsgard and Midgard. At night they sit on Odin's shoulder and whisper in his ear what they have seen.

Quick stitch and projection; when I get a chance, I'll fix this up.

Raven. I still feel the excitement I felt, when this raven landed only a few feet away from me! Such an amazing experience! It stayed for about 5 minutes.

Stitched from 8 pictures taken with a Nikkor 50mm. The original has a size of ca. 57MP. I am thinking about printing it 240x60, but I will need to move into a bigger flat first ... ;)

I found this panorama quite hard to do because of the awkward angles that I needed to pan on. On the full size pic there are a couple of misalignments though hopefully it should look ok at the size that is shown here. checkout the alien beam getting the tourists sitting near me!!!
