On day four the Mississippi Kite was no where to be found in my neighborhood. While out and looking for it I happen to spot an Olive sided Flycatcher two streets over on one single snag protruding from a tree that had seen better days. Attempting to get a better view of the uncommon flycatcher. I ended up in the neighborhood next to mine and a failed attempt to view the flycatcher that left the snag. As I'm leaving the cul de sac. A brown blur shoots right in front of my truck and takes perch low and in the shade. Another neighborhood with a Barred Owl. 95% sure every neighborhood in Columbia, MD has a Barred Owl....

The other three sites have been visited and worked on. Only minutes at each site were spent. Which leads me to think they are decoy sites. The female has put in some work visiting the other sites and chipping away at them. Twenty minutes later she is waiting across the river carrying on. I think this will be the active site for this year.
Past three years I managed to get eyes on a Mourning Warbler. And each time it's in the darkest of places on an overcast day. Same situation this morning except this one stayed a little longer then the past years with a pop up- here I am- and here I go. I sat down and got to see how this moved about and chipping and singing as it wandered around on the ground. The only open branch a little elevated was this one and I would've given almost anything for just one beam of sunlight. Nope, not at all, wasn't happening and that's the way it goes.
