Tokyo Airport's terminal ain't half bad. Bust as shit, but nice to look at. And y'know what? The flight wasn't the worst thing either. Still, getting the hell out of this place is gonna suck. Even worse in finding our way around in a country that doesn't sneak the same language as where I come from. Well, for me anyway. I think these two know a thing or two about Japanese. They can help later, though. Right now, we just need to wait.....

"It's been over a damned hour, Jerrick! What are we waiting for? I'm sick of the airport!"

"Chill, Anne. They should be here soon. They've got your stuff anyway."

"W--what?"

"Yeah! And mine too! We'll need 'em if we want to fuck up some anime mobsters."

After that sentence, two armed guards walked up to us, one pushing a cart with a huge crate. The tip of a familiar blade stuck out of one of the handles. A spear's in there somewhere, too. One of the guards handed me a crowbar, and they walked off to god knows where. This is when the ninja spoke up.

"Friends of yours?"

"That's Patton Arms delivery service for you! No way I could take my armor through TSA, so I had Arnie ship these through military delivery. That explains the C-130 I saw on the runway."

"I was able to take my stuff through just fine."

"Well, a ninja suit and a katana are a bit less eyebrow-raising than a set of military armor. Besides, private flight...say, the fuck's up with these papers on that wall. Anne, you know what's up here?"

"It's Ariadne, Jerrick, for like the millionth goddamn time...and I don't know. These signs are poorly made."

"Tenkaichi."

"What's that, ninja?"

"Tenkaichi. Tournament. I think, anyway. These signs are pretty bad. Like some schoolkids made them. The point is, looks like everyone's hyped for the tournament."

"Bitchin'. That means the audience will be HUGE! Can't wait for them all to see howmuch ASS I'LL KICK! HAHAHAHAHAAA!!!"

"Well, there's one thing we have to do first, Jay."

"Really, Ann--- Ariadne? What's that?"

"We gotta sign up, first."

"Ah fuck..."

This is Mia, our neighbor's golden lab dog who is only 3 years old and fixed. They have to move and may not be able to keep her. Our son had a dog like this when he was growing up. He wants a dog and yesterday I called him and he was so glad to hear that maybe he could get this one. He lives in West Virginia and we live in Michigan. Maybe this doggie is for free! They would be great together! They are already acquainted from last October when our son and his wife were here.

Let's play a game! How much money do you think is here? The closest guesser gets a high five!

I'm about to count it at a TD Bank Penny Arcade. I've been collecting this pile for 3+ years!

Looks like the baffle plates on out wood-fired stove are shot. It's a Dovre 760CB that's into it's eighth season on use. So it's burnt in rough terms a bit under 50 cubic metres of wood. The Dovre site makes clear that baffle plates are not covered by the guarantee but are consumables. And could they have €110 euros for a new pair please. Except they are out of stock for four weeks.....

*sighs heavily*

I will get a new pair to install and then see if these two are susceptible to an interim solution with say sheet steel to eke out a few more years of use.

I remember well inquiring of the installer's assistance why these two curved bits of metal we so easy to extract and he said it was so they could be cleaned. Lying toad! Replaced more like......

Baffle plates are prone to failure if the fire is run too hard but I don't think we're guilty of too much of that. The top plate of the stove, where the kettle goes normally runs at up to 150 degrees whereas the 'throat' where it joins the steel chimney can reach 250 degrees. A meter or two up the pipe we rarely get over 100 degrees. if one could prove that these baffle plates were made of dodgy recycled Chinee cast iron one would be a bit miffed.

One can still buy a brand new painted Steib sidecar for a smidge over €5000 euros. Which seems jolly steep.

Berlingo Busted. Kerching to the tune of £46 at the local Citroen garage for a replacement roll-bar tie-rod. Doddle to fit mind....Didn't hear it go bang - might have been a speed hump I suppose.

Hull (Paragon) is , these days a " transport interchange providing rail, bus and coach services located in the city centre of Kingston upon Hull, England". back in the forties it was, no doubt, the scene of many a tearful departure and joyful arrival. Depending on one's outlook natch....

Something hilarious about getting old

Then I met an Englishman

"Oh" he said

"Won't you walk up and down my spine,

It makes me feel strangely alive."

I said "In these shoes?

I doubt you'd survive."
