Windows of Opportunity" have been on my mind a lot. We are tentatively scheduled to take a May tour of Bryce & Zion canyons with Road Scholar in May of 2022. The COVID numbers are rising. If I were in my 40's , I would wait and say that there would be other opportunities "when life becomes more normal (safe)". I am in my mid-70's and healthy. There is still the thought in the back of my mind as to how many windows of opportunity will be in my future. We will decide as the time draws nearer.
I am reflecting, not complaining. We have weathered the pandemic well and our living situation is comfortable. I have also had many opportunities in the past to experience other places. The Irish rover in my genes still longs for a look beyond my present horizon, however, and it's a nagging feeling.
There will be one other post in this "windows of opportunity" series.
The view from the top of the Tongariro crossing looking north and east. Lake Taupo is in the far distance and the desert road is just visible on the right.
I think there are 6(?) volcanic craters in this photo. Fortunately all sleeping at the moment!
No matter where you're going it's the wrong place.

Corporal season has long since wrapped around here but there still may be a few flying in the mountains. This is a male Blue corporal @ Gibbs Gardens earlier this month - showing off his wings. Lots of places are suddenly hot for dragonflies - as we're teetering around 90o this week. Get out there and have fun!
How silently they tumble down
And come to rest upon the ground
To lay a carpet, rich and rare,
Beneath the trees without a care,
Content to sleep, their work well done,
Colors gleaming in the sun.
At other times, they wildly fly
Until they nearly reach the sky.
Twisting, turning through the air
Till all the trees stand stark and bare.
Exhausted, drop to earth below
To wait, like children, for the snow.

What does it take to understand that guns kill? Why do we insist upon having guns? Can we think, instead of being governed by fear?
Violence only adds to more violence. Start with eliminating poverty and creating more equality thereby eliminating squalor, indignity, hunger, death and desperation. Try a little love, it goes a long way and does not create violence! History repeats itself, violence has never been and never will be the solution, helping one another in a peaceful way does make a difference, the damage has been done, so it won't be easy but it is better than violence.
Thank you for your kind visit. Have a wonderful and beautiful day! xo💜💜
This was taken a couple years ago on a rainy day. I sure would love some rain right now.
It's supposed to be 102F here today, ugh!!!!
"Hey you there in front! Can't you dig a pass straight?"
"I dunno, maybe someone is cross-legged or cross-eyed, lol"
"I'm really sick of turning back and forth already"
"Nah, who cares? We're going - it's something at least"
(meanwhile, their leader)
"I'm a big bad wolf! OMG, I'm so awesome! How mighty are my paws!"
I was asked if I can make a Lego version of famous local meme about wolves. Of course, I can! :D I tried to translate the original dialogue as close as possible, hope it still works as an office talk parody, which the original meme is.
I was thinking about putting the words on a picture to make it a meme, but I decided against it because it would draw attention away from how close my picture resembles the original National Geographic picture (I can't post a link, cause insta is banned in my country, but you can find it as "Wolves deep in Denali National Park, in Alaska"). By the way, their leader is she-wolf, but people didn't know it at the time when the meme was popular, so everyone thought it's an alpha male, which was part of the joke.
