Alright, it's been a slow week over here so I'll just post an obligatory Bizzaro and Bat-zarro (or Batman Bizzaro... or whatever)
Because I feel that if I own the coveted SDCC Bizzaro and don't shoot him with Bat-zarro then like, what am I doing with my life?
I don't even know man.
This Banded Lapwing parent is not alone. Beside it, in this low tangled vegetation, is its newly hatched chick. Outfitted in its GI Joe jacket and cap, it is visible only because of a few white, downy feathers.
Doug is just checking in to say hello and let you know that all the critters here at Cat Hill Farm are doing okay.

Nearly didn't leave the house today, it was so dull outside. Kept thinking the fog would lift, but it didn't (and still hasn't). Eventually the need for a bit of fresh air forced us out & how magical did Richmond Park look? It was much quieter than usual for a Sunday & I'm sure all those who ventured there were spellbound by the shroud of fog.
How the world looks to a fly ! I know it's not a great shot but does show those incredible compound eyes. Flies, well all insects, really are the most amazing pieces of perfect engineering, HFDF one and all !

How doth the little busy bee
Improve each shining hour,
And gather honey all the day
From every shining flower!
How did it happen that their lips came together? How does it happen that birds sing, that snow melts, that the rose unfolds, that the dawn whitens behind the stark shapes of trees on the quivering summit of the hill? A kiss, and all was said

Australian Pelican (Pelecanus conspicillatus) measures its take off with head steady, wings beating the air and feet pounding the shimmering surface — how many powerful strokes to be airborne?
And how long are you gonna hesitate ?
I tried my best capturing some fog, but it was more difficult than I thought.

I used to not, but now I do. I will share, if just ask, I'm kind like that. It's quite useful, and quite fun, I must so proclaim. Just ask, I will tell.

A few minutes later, you couldn't see anything. The plants are blueberries
It's been a while for a real good macro chance to come around. This little fella was really nice to me. I noticed him hanging out in our (wilted) garden on a stick and just watching us. I didnt even have the camera with me, so I ran back inside not really expecting him to still be around, but there he was...and he really didnt mind having his picture taken at all..thanks buddy :)

Would someone like to guess how many hotels, particularly in country Australia are called the Criterion. I have no idea why this rather boring name is so popular but googling it will give you an idea. Right up there with the Commercial, Railway and Imperial and there are no doubt others!
This one is smack bang in the middle of the sugar cane growing town of South Johnstone south west of Innisfail. With two other local sugar mills permanently closed (Mourilyan and Goondi), the mill in this town is not only the only one left in this district but also very busy. Of course, the day we drove past was boiler and maintenance day and everything including trains doing harvested cane deliveries were at full stop. We seemed to find this more frequently this trip than ever before. Very frustrating!
If you look closely at the very wet road in the foreground, you can see the railway tracks here pass down the main street on the way to the mill and in that sense when it is operating at full blast this is a busy place and a great spot to get a cane train shot. Maybe have a drink and wait out the next train.
Here is a shot from a previous visit.

PS as I have not tagged this Queensland railways nor put it in such a group, I have no idea how it got into this group anyway.
