The original Southgate Shopping precinct was a much loathed 70's development that had replaced a run-down area of 18th and 19th century buildings, the demolition of which had been highly controversial and caused international outrage. The new development is much more extensive and a great deal of thought and consultation took place on how to best integrate this huge site into the delicate townscape of Bath.
The development won the Georgian Group Architectural Giles Worsley Award for a New Building in Georgian Context in 2010.
The book 'The Sack of Bath' by Adam Fergusson, detailing the piecemeal destruction of the city in the 60's and 70's is still available.
Ladies here! Pangururan is situated at the north end of Danau Toba. From Pangururan, it's very straight forward. Just cross the bridge and take the first right. After roughly 2 km you'll come to a large number of restaurants and hot spring pools. Indonesia, Sumatra Utara, Pangururan (Aug 08)
This is the view from one of the undeveloped hot springs on the refuge. Air temperature was chilly but the water is always hot! Couldn't ask for a nicer view while taking a relaxing soak.

Absolutely Incredible Run.... Up hill for the first half (about 2 miles). And, as we all know, what goes up, must come down, and that I did (for about 3 miles). Felt like a lean mean trail running machine after. We'll see how the legs feel after 8 hours in the car though.
Located about a quarter mile up a side canyon from our cabin, the upper spring is a rock pool enclosed in this pentagonal building next to a golden creek.
