After I had shot the Central of Georgia heritage unit (see next picture), word came down as I was heading back to the office to work that the UP 1982/1983 combo was trailing the afternoon Z train. Sure enough, as I approached the tracks, I saw him coming, so I took a minor detour through Malta, IL and got him there. See you on the return trip!

LIRR 8707 passes the "PT" siding, home to Eastport Feeds, a former industry along the branch. Having made its stop at Speonk, it's full speed ahead to Jamaica for this express run.
The train had a long string of open gondola cars that I think are coke for Teck Cominco in Trail. The crew leaves 10 assorted cars for Castlegar customers.

Crosley also made radios & refridgerators, they ceased car production in 1952.

We still had at least 3 daily stack trains on the West Point Route back in 2010, and a colorful Q192 carrying steamship boxes rolls along the dirt road at Notasulga on this day 15 years ago. We're starting to get some stack traffic back off the new CPKC connection at Myrtlewood with boxes going to and from Mexico, but it hasn't grown into a dedicated train yet.
