The longer I was sitting on the snowy rocks by the lake the more I was starting to feel the process of freezing inside my body, as if the blood in my veins were starting to turn into ice, just like the veins I was seeing on the surface of the frozen lake in front of me.
Then a thought came to me; how many people out there were feeling exactly the same sensations in their bodies right at that moment, and how many of them had sunlight, a shelter, a sign of hope rising in front of them to warm them up again?
I couldn't think for long, I couldn't stay for long. The sunlight didn't warm me up and the shelter wasn't safe enough for me to go in.
I stood up and Ieft. I went back home.
That morning I felt grateful for my shelter, and fearful for those who are without any.
For those who's hopes and veins remain frozen in their lakes.

Taken prior to lockdown, from the top of Mam Tor, looking over the Hope Valley, Derbyshire. With all that is going on right now with Covid-19, we all feel for those affected and ‘hope’ that the spread can be contained and for a speedy return to normality.
When the shot was taken, the wind was brutal, we had hoped that there might be good light for a sunset shot, but it wasn’t looking favourable and in any event using a tripod was near impossible. So racked up the iso and shot handheld.

Hope springs eternal in the human breast;
Man never Is, but always To be blest.
The soul, uneasy, and confin'd from home,
Rests and expatiates in a life to come. - Alexander Pope,

Thank you for your kind visit. Have a wonderful and beautiful day! xo💜💜
A Northern Spotted Owl juvenile.
This day it took me 40 mins to locate one of the juveniles. I could consistently hear it yet miserably failed to find it. Finally when I located the source of the sound, it was evidently clear that I have a lot to learn.
I spent another few minutes to photograph (which I posted earlier). Then, when the sunlight was nearly gone and I started walking back, just down the trail I heard the same familial sound.
I slowly looked back and there it was. I don't know if it is the same juvenile or the sibling, but she/he was only few feet from me. For the next few minutes it followed me closely, and I stopped intermittently to take a few images in the dimmest light I have ever taken an (wildlife) image.
The day could not have ended any better. The efforts of many months finally paid off with an unforgettable memory, and with a little 'hope' that we can live together.
"Where flowers bloom, so does hope." Lady Bird Johnson
I chose this title because my orchids bloomed for the third time under my care! I've never had much luck with these flowers and don't know how long this run will last, but I have hope!
I've just been going over some of my older Christmas pictures and came across this one of Asha when she was 3 years old taken in our hall. This wee platform at the bottom of the stairs was Asha's stage were I took most of her early pictures. As soon as she seen me in the hall with the camera I didn't have to tell her to go to her normal posing position on this platform at the bottom of the stairs she automatically did it..lol. I didn't have any lighting when taking these pictures so maybe the picture quality isn't the sharpest but I like the angle this picture was taken and off-couse a young wee Asha looking so wide eyed and full of the joys of Christmas. Wonderful memories that will live in my heart forever...
"The charm of fishing is that it is the pursuit of that which is elusive but attainable, a perpetual series of occasions for hope"
Back in the spring of 2019, Zach and I checked off the Mohawk Adirondack and Northern on the must "do" list. We had found out that they were planning on making a run from Utica north to Boonville, NY with empty propane cars for storage with all three engines. Another early morning departure from the house got us to Utica just before dawn to witness the sights and smell of Schenectady smoke. seeing a big train on the main to Boonville was certainly cool. After spotting the empty propane cars north of town, they returned to "downtown" Boonville to give Bailey Feeds a quick switch. Here, MA&N C-425 2456 dips down to the spot track to grab an empty grain car. It is quite an illusion, but in reality there is no room for error in spotting cars here. This was a great day, thanks to our friends at the MA&N with Centuries and lots of sun. April 16, 2019.
"Farming is a profession of hope." _ Brian Brett
While I am patiently waiting for the warmer weather of spring to arrive, I realize that farmers have more at stake than I do if spring is a wetter and cooler season this year. Last weekend we had our snowstorm but this weekend there is hope of two digit temperatures and some sun. There is hope that this will melt the last of our snow and maybe I can play in the garden for a few hours. I need to be careful not to uncover too much debris as some of our pollinators may still be sleeping in the warm underground until it really warms up. However, I just can't resist the urge to get my hands just a little bit dirty this weekend.
"Take me deep into the wintry woods where hope glitters freshly worn."
This snow quote sums up my love for the forest. As I enter the freshly powdered woods adorned in frost, always I greet hope. In fact, everything gleams with newness and promise. Then you add a horse to the mix and my heart is full.
I have so many fond memories from childhood of playing in my grandmother’s charmed farmyard forest. My hope is you have a treasure-trove of snow-laced memories as well.
I thought I would post one more from this memorable sunset outing.
The sky became even more spectacular after sunset, but by that point I was a bit of a muddy mess! This was shot on the low tide at Morecambe with the fishing vessel LR191 "Hope" lying at anchor on the muddy shoreline.
I have been so overwhelmed by the pressures of the season. I have a literal list of pictures I want to take that just keeps on growing. I keep missing days worth of pictures from all of you wonderful artists and I miss it so much.
There is hope on the horizon. Soon the shopping frenzy will be over and we can all just enjoy the beauty of the season and the warmth of our loved ones...and hopefully a little me time with my computer :)

And so We Pray
I pray that I don’t give up
Pray that I do my best
Pray that I can lift up
Pray my brother is blessed
Praying for enough
Pray Virgilio wins
Pray I-I-I
Judge nobody and forgive me my sins
I pray we make it
Pray my friend will pull through
Pray as I take it
Unto others I do
Praying on your love
We pray with every breath
Though I-I–I’m in the valley of the shadow of death
And so We Pray
For someone to come and show me the way
And so We Pray
For some shelter and some records to play
And so We Pray
We’ll be singing Baraye
Pray that we make it to the end of the day
And so We Pray
I know somewhere that heaven is waiting
And so We Pray
I know somewhere there’s something amazing
And so We Pray
I know somewhere we’ll feel no pain
Until we make it to the end of the day
And so We Pray
For someone to come and show me the way
And so We Pray
For some shelter and some records to play
And so We Pray
We’ll be singing Baraye
Pray that we make it to the end of the day
And so We Pray
I know somewhere that heaven is waiting
And so We Pray
I know somewhere there’s something amazing
And so We Pray
I know somewhere we’ll feel no pain
Until we make it to the end of the day
On my knees
I pray
As I sleep and wake
Cause inside my head is a frightening place
Keep a smiling face
Only by His grace
Cause love’s more than I can take
And so We Pray
For someone to come and show me the way
And so We Pray
For some shelter and some records to play
And so We Pray
We’ll be singing Baraye
‘til nobody’s in need
And everybody can say
La la la la la la la (la la)
La la la la la la la (la la la la)
La la la la la la la (sing it to me)
La la la la la
We Pray We Pray
I know somewhere that heaven is waiting (is waiting)
I know somewhere there’s something amazing (something amazing)
Until we feel no pain
We Pray

While in Hope Town on Elbow Cay in the Bahamas we were able to ascend the lighthouse there. Built in 1862, it’s about 154 years old, and is still in operation. It is one of three remaining operational kerosene-fueled lighthouses in the world. It has a spring mechanism that has to be hand cranked every several hours to maintain the sequence of five white flashes every 15 seconds. The lamp burns kerosene oil with a wick and mantle. A large Fresnel lens, floating on a bed of mercury, focuses the light. It can be seen from 23 (43 km) nautical miles away.
Outside of the lighthouse, at dusk.

The sun sets across Morecambe Bay with the Western Lake District fells silhouetted in the distance.
Hope is one of the few fishing vessels that still operate here from the shore at Morecambe.
A Grade II* listed Mausoleum. Built in 1818 in the Greek Revival style commissioned by the collector and amateur architect Thomas Hope (1769-1831) following the death of his seven year old son. Later, Hope himself was buried there as were various other family members; the last interment was in 1941. I have given this a dark look with split-toning in Lightroom
With heartfelt and genuine thanks for your kind visit. Have a beautiful day, be well, keep your eyes open, appreciate the beauty surrounding you, enjoy creating, and stay safe! ❤️❤️❤️
